Guys don't buy into all this crap, he's gone and has been for a long time.

I just put it up as a talking point... I'm not buying into any of the crap; theirs or yours ;-)

I thought the first few words of the post you were responding to, explained that. There had been a post a little earlier that cited a BF post, and this was from the same thread and in a similar vein; so I thought it was worth adding to the discussion.

This is something i copied from Bigfooty from someone that support GWS.

Yep congratulations are in order to you guy's I have just heard on very good authority, from someone from gws he has turned down the gws offer. I don't know when this will be confirmed but gws were hoping to have a presser on tuesday but were informed at 4.30 this afternoon that he will not be taking up the offer. I can see the egg on faces now, anyway congratulations if that's the young man's wishes I respect him

Cheers

I'm not sure what your problem is. I posted something as a discussion point... as it was a claim someone was making. I made no comment on it at the time and didn't attempt to editorialise; this is a forum that engages in discussion after all.

You keep repeating the same things ad infinitum concerning TS's impending departure with no solid facts to back you up (just for the hell of it), yet I put up something a little different and you have a problem it???

I am in the camp that chooses to take TS at his word, and will accept his decision whatever the outcome... I do not say he is gone and I do not say he will stay, because there are no facts to back up either position.

it does indeed. Im taken to task.. so will others. BF is such a font of absolute gospel after all

I am after all doing as you suggest...discussing it. And qustioning its verocity. Its seems michievious at best , the originating post ( on BF ) and scurrelous rubbish at worst. In reposting it you wil lhave to assume responsibility also..

I and others have put our case..based on observations. It points in one direction.

Still all will eventually come to a head I guess.

There are actually certain facts.. What there isnt is a public announcement. Soon

That is the third time that has been written in this thread.

I think that is sufficient.

Let's just wait for some word from the club.

Can someone explain to me how the money he will make in the long term is not much different ? That is a throw away comment with no substance. If the figures are to be believed he will make $600K a season for 5 years at Melbourne and $1M a season for 5 years at GWS. Thats $2M difference over the life of the contract. That takes him to 25 years old - lets put his career out to 33 - 8 years following. He has got to earn $250K per year more somewhere else for 8 years purely to break even with the first contract.Secondly GWS are heavily front loading the first contract, as would the MFC but GWS are front loading $1M per year as opposed to MFC $600K.Happy to discuss lots of other reasons for him to stay but anyway you look it - if it is a financial decision there are huge reasons for him to go. There is a big short and long term $ difference.

I think most people who mention this (myself included) are talking about long term, being in the home of footy, not just career. If he becomes as good as most of us think he will, then it is fair to suggest he will level out with the GWS offer, possibly by the next contract. This would mean he is 2 mil short, but still doing well. But the earning potential from the business contacts in Melbourne etc, would have to be stronger than if he is in a second rate side in Sydney (this may not be the case, but is what I am expecting). Now if we are to believe WM, who is someone who knows Tom and the only person on here who has something from the horses mouth face to face, the $ values are not what has been reported, and therefore there is a good chance that the difference will be even smaller. It is all speculation, every last bit of it, but maybe this gives you some perspective on why some of us hold this view.

Nup. It's for the money and the money only.

More of RR stating something as fact, when he actually has no bloody idea like the rest of us.

Rischitelli (sp?) turned up to B&F last year......AND won the bloody thing!

True daisy, but it would be fair to remember the way he was treated by the Bears at the end of the 09 season. Scully has never been treated in such a way by MFC

What happens if Tom re-signs with MFC for 12 months? Can we repeat all this 'fun' again next year?

You are a sick, sick man :)

This thread will hit 5,000 posts!!!

Surely it already has given there has been.... how many of these??

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
