Strong rumour I have heard around footy circles here in the west that Andrew Gaff is not happy in WA and desperatley wants to go home. Whilst we here rumours all the time just 5 minutes ago was the first I had heard it reported on radio that 2 Melbourne Clubs are aware of the developments and the topic will grow legs further at seasons end.

Not the exact type we need but apart from his good form for West Coast I have seen this kid play WAFL and he is a gun, makes the right decisions, plays the percentages, gut runs and his use of the ball is excellent.

I have said on Demonland before the Eagles are very hard to deal with at trade time and if Dees are considering Gaff, they will have to give up something for him as he has another year left on his contract

Should definitely be chasing more required players ie Butcher or a hard, mature mid. The last thing we need in my opinion is another young midfielder.

I would love to see us pick up a FF, MID and FB in the trade period. As much as I would love to get Gaff & Butcher, IMO top priority is getting a mature bodied mid who can help out Beamer. As you say PStD, Eagles will be wanting a lot for Gaff and I can't see us giving them anything they want except our draft picks which I think should be used for other purposes.

IF we lose Scully then a player like Gaff would be a nice replacement, I have a lot of time for him. The tier 1 compensation will come in very handy with negotiating a trade.

Edit: That's a big IF by the way, I'm now swaying to the 'I think he'll stay' side. Mind you at first I thought he'd go, then I changed my mind and then changed it again, now take this sentence and multiply it by 6.

Give em Morton and something else for Gaff.

West Coast will never touch a Morton again.

Spoke to a few guys he went to school with and a fmaily friends at the Presidents lunch a few weeks ago. He grew up as a Melbourne supporter. I brought up that there were rumours that he wanted to come hokme. They knew nothing. West Coast will not give him up. Don't think he will leave, early on its always hard for players but I think once he adjust he will be happy there.

Didn't think about that but agree with you, RE chase him if Scully goes. Still, WCE will want more than we're prepared to give.

Gaff is already better than Scully!

Scully to GWS...

Our first round pick and Morton for Gaff...

Aaron Davey + our (2011- 2nd Rnd Pick) we work the contract details.

IMO if Cale didn't play this year and was still 'injured' WCE would have done 1st round pick + Morts for Gaff. Unfortunately, Cale played.

Yes WCE will surely go for a one sided deal like that. On 2011 form, Davey is soiled goods for a trade. His value is undermined by some critical flaws at the moment.

Yes WCE would move heaven and earth for a player didn't play this year and was injured. You have to be kidding. The same questions over Morton are the same questions that were there last year.

For someone who's meant to be a mod your comments are a little alarming. Disagree with me; go for it. Don't mock me; you should know better.

I didn't say heaven and earth. I suggested a 1st round pick + a pick 4 player from WA who showed potential in his first few years. I think Cale has made his value drop further by playing this year. For all you and I know he may fit better in their team then he would ours. A change of coach, role and team can do a player good.

Rhino you know he can play. they need small speedy players who'll help them bridge the Gap on the Pies Cats and Hawks, with immediate impact.. they have enough hardness to allow Aaron to ply his trade to perfection. And to stop Buckleys Pies.

If we need to add some spice so be it.

There were rumours at the time that WCE took Chris Masten over the higher rated Cale Morton because the club's relationship with the Morton family (particularly Daddy Morton) had been dreadful during Mitch's stint there - hence why Mitch was traded. If that's true, I doubt they'd be rushing out to get Cale now, especially given his recent form.

Posted

I cant wait until trade week they have been getting bigger and better every year, and i think we could be a major player this year should there be an strong bodied mid with leadership qualities up for grabs.

Posted

Gaff is an absolute gun, every bit as good as Scully and Trengove. Those who are throwing Morton and/or Davey around as part of a possible deal are kidding themselves.

If he was to leave (and I doubt he will), you'd have to fork out a top 5 pick.

The trouble is every team above 10th will be in it. It'll be hard to land the best fish. Anyone have John 'West' B's, No, quick!

Gaff is not unhappy with West Coast. Worry about picking someone else up

That's my mail too.

He might have got a bit frustrated when he was back in the WAFL ... but that's understandable for a kid committed to excellence

See how he feels in about 7 years time

This is the story i heard also

CHF is the priority, we don't need a FB

could have thought of a number of numbers, we could have traded at that time

Lets Deal ! Who have we got that would like the west?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
