and you mean they will play worse than this year.

Gee that could have a real influence on the number of games we lose!

I dont think so Old.. Atbh...any that cant see this is the way to go ( that is..players ) ought to question their loyalty to teh jumper and respect for the position. If they are weak of mind and prone to hissyness then do we really want them anyway ? A good way to find out the fibre of some possibly.

I genuinely feel there hasnt been any real effective leadership on the filed this year. I hate having to load on Brad in this regard but how else can you observe it.

I dont think Moloney is captains material but he would ably augment a good one. So would Grimes. His apparently fitness iffiness wouldnt be detracting if only a VC type role handed him.

I think in very much the same way Carey was spied as a natural born leader at a tender ( by footy standards) and a solid team formed around him then so would it occur with Trengove..

The likes of Tappy, Gawn Watts, Grimes, Jordie, Martin, Liam , Howe etc will be the ones taking us through the next golden era. Its hihgly likely Green , Davey , Rivers etc will have moved on by then..or be nudging it.

Again..its just my view

I'm very happy about this, but have no idea what this has to do with the type of person Trengove or Scully is.

well..id say the opposite...it is actually showing a lot about the character of Trengove. This is not intended as a slight to Tom but other than his footy regime we know very liittel because he maintains it that way. Thats him..fair enough. With Jack he is very publicly demonstrating his ideas and desires. He strikes me as a very decent all round type of guy. ( so might Tom be..but who knows)

the MFC are by recent outings quite happy for Jack to portray the club...i sense thats a portend of thngs to come.

We as a club have been spoken of for a long time now as a soft touch, we don't like the tag but I think most of us agree it fits currently. Yes when really under the pump and subject to public criticism & scrutiny, against Adelaide & Essendon this season we lifted. But it took that public shame for our older guys to play hard and lift into it. What I am saying is they are not naturally hard and it is not something they bring to the game week in week out.

We talk of changing the culture and why things haven't changed yet, Mark my words the hard players we have at the club and the ones who lead by example are still young. The culture at this club is changing but it will not happen overnight, Watts,Trengove, Tapscott,Mckenzie, Bail, Jetta (Yes give him time I think there is hope for him, he loves to get stuck in if nothing else), Frawley, Howe, Gawn etc are the ones who will effect and have started the change. Another pre season or two will see great strides taken what player or supporter of this club could not be impressed by the efforts of Trengove, Watts, Tappy, Mckenzie, Frawley and see light at the end of the tunnel.

The guard is changing and these boys will take over we will see in time when these boys are 22-25 a team that is harder and more accountable. They lead by example and we will have new players coming in who will follow the culture of these guys and not those left over from our front running era of the 2000's (Not including junior in this). I honestly believe the likes of Jones, Sylvia and Maloney will get a new lease of life and be forced to follow the example from this bunch and will want to be part of something.

If these boys have not shown Scully the way forward then sorry Tom but you are not right for us, I would love you to remain with us just so your training and work ethic could flow on to the younger in coming guys but if thats not to be well, we will move forward never the less. If nothing else the signing of these boys is a godsend and much needed to the Dees supporters who believe the media hype that the club is in a crisis and nothing but doom and gloom hovers over the club.

All I can say is I am in for life and look forward to the future ahead, I only hope Jimmy gets to see the finishing touches of what he started.

GO DEES!

Did anyone hear Jack being interviewed on SEN this morning. He spoke beautifully and I reckon he speaks better than those that have been in the game for more than 10 years. When asked about the off field stuff he said that it would be a perfect world if every one that worked in a business got on.

Well Im happy that he has faith in this club and im not sure about making him captain because I dont think he needs that pressure yet but maybe when he is 23-24 he will be ready. Im also rapt that Maxy signed and the other as well.

You know I reckon this is EXACTLY the bold move the club needs to do. It needs to break the shackles of mediocrity. It needs to move beyond the current lot of leaders and reestablish the benchmark, not just for playing, but what it takes to inspire others.

Others have already noticed, He ( JT ) did something and others felt comfortbale/inpsired/ motivated to follow. Leaders do that to others. They enthuse and infuse.

As silly as it sounds..but on the basis of what anyone is actually doing.. Id give the captaincy to Trenners..and a VC role to Watts. they are the future of this club. Some others may get a nose or two out of joint but what is...is.

B59, I'm as impressed as anyone regardign the progress and leadership potential of JT, however, I think you are getting a bit excited with some of your views. I just have to ask, at what stage in the negotiations with Gawn, Tappy, Nicho and Pickles did the Club say "JT has signed, are you going to as well?".

While I'm stoked that he has re-signed for 3, and Tappy for 2, I think it's a given that JT should get a longer extension due to exposed form and Tappy's injury history.

You of all people should know to keep a lid on these things!

Billy surely youd agree many things are discussed amongst players. It wouldnt have been so cut and dried., wel lI doubt it.

Whilst particular and confidential detaisl of respective negotiatons wouldnt have been broached teh intents etc of players would in all likely be known amongstr a close knit group.

Id suggest what we are seeing is the shop window....all the work had already transpired earlier within their groupings.

So who do we have left to sign still?

Great news.

I believe that it now leaves Sylvia, he who's name I dare not mention, Martin and Morton. But there may be more I am not aware of.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
