So does Tarrant

Did Tarrant get there in a FA agreement? He was always going to Collingwood ... FA or No Free Agency. (oh yes ... its all about the premiership. Shivers if players where that good at picking premierships ... why not take up a career in gambling)

You know the only difference under a FA agreement ... PUBLIC WONT GET TO KNOW. Media will just speculate and spread rumours ... it was all about the money.

Nothing to do with wanting to play with your mates or where you feel comfortable. NOPE

They'd also played two grand finals previously.

Anyway I thought your point was for 'premiership contender' teams.

The point is.......top teams find a way......not excuses......and don't you let facts get in the way either

Again you miss the point ... its not the teams. Its the players that have the power. But again ... dont let the facts get in the way.

But hey ... I can see why you banned yourself.

Interesting fun facts:

Peter Blucher - Brisbane Lions/Bears 'Communications Manager' 1992 - 2003

Graeme 'Gubby' Allen - Brisbane Lions Football Manager 1998 - 2010

I don't think Scully is likely to go, but god I'd hope they take Morton and we are able to use a compensation pick for him to snaffle an U/17 pick.

Please, please, please...

Seriously...What is wrong with the Crows....There is a major problem over there which we Victorians are not privvy to....is it that they just wish to recruit their own players (S.A)????

Why didn't you throw A Lynch in there as well ... Brisbane 1994-2004 ... but I like it.

I Must admit to having a bit of a giggle ; reading in the papers and such etc whereby so many who were whooping it up mercilesly at Melbourne's expence laughing and lauding the likelyhood of us losing Scully as some form of *alert* *alert* *that T-word* tanking-karma are now the very same screaming foul should we actually come out of all this ( should he go ) actually more like winners than losers.

Footy's funny !! :)

Was going to but I just thought the combination of 'spin doctor' and 'shifty recruiter' was worthy of a stand alone entry.

Lynch is an interesting one. Had a flick online through his autobiographical book (written with Blucher) ... "Take Nothing For Granted".

Was telling to see how his move from Fitzroy to Brisbane shaped his view of football. Seeing mates and club champions like Roos and Blakey offered up for trade despite their long history of service to the club really affected his ideas about loyalty. That and the security of his long term contract at the Lions, which held him in good stead through years of battling debilitating chronic fatigue syndrome.

There are many other interesting tidbits in the book.

It is important to note these things because Tom, for whatever reason, has fallen into the orbit of this triumvirate (Lynch, Blucher and Allen).

The reader can draw their own conclusions.

You're a very naught boy ... just would have been nice to put in "Media Personality" into the equation ... but I like it. But now you can write "Joint Co Author" the mind boggles what powerful relationships can do.

You are more than entitled to your viewpoint, which at a guess is that Scully is gone, but you must be aware of the fact that the way in which you look at seemingly trivial events may become skewed given your proposed stance. What I am trying to say is that you can turn any innocuous event into something more, in essence you create your own reality.

I'm happy with Morton's progress so far, and I'm confident he'll be a good player.

That doesn't mean we shouldn't recognise a good deal when the opportunity arises, and I'd move him on for a player who's very likely to be much better.

I'm not quite sure that I will be thinking Scully is a 'hero' if he eventually agrees to sign for the Dees at the end of the season for $600K a year over 5 years.

For a start, his delay has clearly mucked the club around big time this year - he has seemingly had little to no regard for club's best interests given the way he's played this negotiation in the highly unusual prevailing circumstances.

We have had a pretty bad history of losing some really good players by catering to the excessive demands of certain other players in the past. I hope Scully's contract won't create yet another instance of this.

I haven't read the article yet, but if it suggests that we could get two excellent first rounders - well, I for one am leaning to that.

Brent Moloney has the attitude that should be applied here - namely, you don't want to play for the Dees, fine go to GWS - it'll be a blast living in Rooty Hill and playing in front of 2,500 people each fortnight.

Well said Ron. I agree. I've said this before but Tom and his management team may well be preparing to cash in, but they're doing nothing for his reputation the way this is playing out. Should he stay, I for one will be pleased, but will always remember the way he mucked the club around after just one season of footy - it would take me a long time to forget this episode. Should he go, we will never forgive him for his charade and lack of loyalty. Whoever is advising him - whether it be his family, the infamous Velocity Sports or a combination of the two, they have done him no favours. Now is the time for building a reputation, not destroying it.

I'm not creating the reality 36DD. This IS the reality. I'm just stating facts.

These men have had extremely close working relationships. They are not mere associates.

It's a very unpalatable reality I grant you, but one that needs to be scrutinized and not swept under the rug.

Who is sweeping anything under the rug?

What 36DD is referring to is your posts surrounding that post - the ones where you infer into one fact, a number of other 'facts.'

You can infer all you like but at the end of the day, they are just assumptions.

So you don't find anything noteworthy about the fact that Scully's current manager had an intimate working relationship with Gubby Allen over a number of years at the Brisbane Lions?

Nothing to see here ladies and gentlemen?

Further to this its not at all coincidental ( or rather it is actually ) that you have these blokes influencing the circumstances in which Scully is to make a decision.

I wonder to what extent the club is biting its tongue, desperate to bring about order to this pompous stand-off whilst not wishing to cut its nose off , spiting face.

Please tell me how exactly he has "mucked the club around" when from day one he has stated that he will make a decision at season's end? The club has very publicly stated that they are ok with that and as he is currently under contract, he is under absolutely no obligation (legally or morally) to do anything other than play his best football. He is in no way responsible for the offers made by either club - he is only guilty of being an extremely talented footballer.

Anything, anyone infers from that are assumptions.

You can assume if you want to.

Go for it.

But you know what happens when you assume?

And these men are so unprofessional that they would let those relationships interfere with them performing their role as employed by Scully?

You really think they would let these past relationships influence the way they do their job?

I don't.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
