Let's not Forget that Jordie Mckenzie has had no second year blues...a GUN blue collar player.

The Tapp. Stef Martin, Young Nicho....

Watts, Martin, Howe and McKenzie for me.

Posted

Late last year Stef was playing for Casey 2s. I know there were reasons for that, but his 'rise from the ashes' in 2011 has been remarkable. Big Max Gawn's situation is very similar. He's always been a great prospect, but his 2011 development has been outstanding. It just shows what an important part 'opportunity' can play in player development.

Gotta say Howe. I think Melbourne surprised a lot of people by picking up this guy, but my god he can play.

Posted

What about Howe?

The guy is going to be a gun

thats why i picked other, Howe.

Martin has been in the system for a few years now, Howes first season and is having an impact playing in the hardest position on the ground

Max Gawn for me

It's interesting to see how the Freedmen have gone without Aaron Sandilands.

I can remember close to 20 years ago we kept an extremely tall youngster on our list for years - sadly couln't play the game.

No such worries with the Max

I picked Stef Martin, but could have easily (and happily) picked any one of them on the list, and maybe even a couple others too. I just love the way Stef is playing, and last night really reinforced that. It was something special.

Posted

I had every confidence in Watts - so no surprise there

I wanted to get rid of Martin - think i'll reconsider that one.

The big one (pun not intended) for me is Tapscott- cant wait for him to get a go in the midfield.

Also another "big 0ne" is Gawn - we must keep him at any cost

Stef has been outstanding, hes been one of the finds of the AFL.

Just on Martin , its bloody exciting to think that he is even being mentioned as a possibility of All Australian team (not saying he will make it). On yesterdays footy show they were talking about Nic Nat and that they had never seen someone so good at following up there own footy and with such athleticism. Big Stef is showing us some very similar traits and playing IMO just as good if not more consistently. Very good for us!

Stef Martin and then daylight in that list.

Surprised you didn't include Nicholson in there, especially when you consider where he's come from. Looks like he'll be a quality player.

Just thought i'd add another 2 cents about Jones because i didn't really want to start a new thread. There was a time when EVERY WEEK, people were calling for his head... now i cant recall the last time i saw someone mention his name in the 'outs'. Great stuff from chunk.

Early days I thought Stephan Martin had the athleticism to do all the things he's doing, just concerned with his kicking. Then last year and early this year I thought maybe not. So now that its happening for him it is fantastic, but to me he is now living up to expectations(as lofty as they may have been) and well done to him for doing so!. Same goes for Jack Watts and for that matter most of the other high draft picks. So for mine the real find of the season has beem Jeremy Howe and once he becomes like "part of the furniture" I think we'll see a lot more exciting things from him ie big marks and more goals.

It was also interesting to watch how well big Max Gawn did in terrible condtions out at Casey two weeks ago.

Evans didn't do a bad job either- and he will be a gun next year- able replacement for Scully if he goes...Martin has to be deemed as the major find of the year..with "Mr Consistent" Jones a little behind him..

Stef for me, Watts was always going to take time. Howe...................from obscurity.the other young boys have been good but i need to see more before i put them anywhere near the above mentioned. Also Trenners love the kid

+1 on both counts.

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns.
