where were you in 64 Red ?

Thanks for that re read Mr. Leg, it is a mantra that should be framed.

I do hope the MFC read it.

Any news today?

Izzy to be investigated for tanking.

HWFUA (and dad) to follow?

AFL's fault - too much money dangled

Sorry to hijack lads, but perhaps this thread could be renamed the "No tank No B$ thread"!

In my backyard as a 12 year old with a Magpie mate listening on a transistor radio. Couldn't get a ticket and my parents weren't into football.

Saw Silvagni at a Restaurant last night and nearly wanted to ask him how you know who was going and who they were taking 1,2 & 3.

at least you experienced one !!

Still yet to :(

Just got back from a week on the gold coast with my wife, Daughter and Grand Daughter had a lot of fun.

Snuck a look a couple of times at Demonland.

What a bunch of Depression.

On now and the first eight threads are doom and dire statements about the tanking episodes.

The MFC is just depressing for me at present, what a shambles this club is at times.

Paid my 2013 membership a couple of weeks back but the way things look that maybe it for me over 2013.

I have a bad feeling about all this crap.

Surely there are better ways to spend 2013.

DEPRESSING

I am at the who cares stage

Can fully understand.

An article about Russell Howcroft...didn't realise his passion for the Dees was this high. Another strong Board Member...we are in good hands!

Something positive. That's nice.

I too, old dee, have not read all the 'Tanking' threads. I prefer to keep my head in the sand and not get caught up in the drama (on here).

On another note. I'm hoping Tippett goes into the ND. GWS will pick him up, leaving Toumpass or Wines to us. Add to that, i hope Jacobs leaves PA and we pick him up in the PSD.

We need all the luck we can get. We may have some low draft picks next year. I'm hoping for Premiership points taken off us next year. I dont think we will make the 8 regardless

On another note. Did anyone hear Buckley on SEN today. I heard Buckley saying that Dawes was told by the Dees that his days were numbered at the Pies therefore he chose the Dees to play next year, or something to that effect. Does Buckley really believe that Pie supporters will believe that. He was a contracted player who could have stayed, or the Pies forced to stay if they chose.

Buckley is a tool who I hope fails as a coach. Over rated player too.

Pie supporters seem to be OK with Dawes leaving. IMO too many short sighted supporters in the AFL (including pie supporters). Dawes has played well as FF and was forced to play up the ground and went backwards. Whilst he is not a star, he is a more than handy FF. I'm backing Dawes to get back to form with Mitch and Pederson up along side him.

It's OK Old.

Dont let it get you down .

I'm sad to hear you are at the who cares stage already.

That takes me until May to get to .

At the moment ,I'm still in Egyptian Fish Stage.

I'm told that Buckley also came out in support of Melbourne on the tanking issue stating that all clubs whose seasons are shot do exactly what Melbourne's done i.e. embarked on a policy where team development was more important than winning. Every club did it but only one of them is being investigated and that is the scandal of the year.

I guess I am just over 2012 Biffen but when did we last have a year that was not mired in incompetance?

The MFC seems to lurch from one disaster to the next.

I look forward to a year when all we have to consider is the quality of our playing stocks.

As the 2012 year draws to a close the next thing on the agenda is will we be kicked in the guts because we could not even tank well.

If it was raining soup the MFC would be standing there with a fork.

Can the AFL please do whatever they have to do with our tanking and lets get on with it.

Please Mr. D make a decision and lets move into 2013 with all this crap of 2012 behind us.

Up in Queensland with WJ. Looking at banana prices. There could be some developments.

Which thread will have more pages by Christmas ... this one or the Caroline Wilson tanking one? Odds?

  • NON-MFC: Round 12

Round 12 kicks off with the Brisbane hosting Essendon at the Gabba as the Lions aim to solidify their top-two position against an injury-hit Bombers side seeking to maintain momentum after a win over Richmond. On Friday night it's a blockbuster at the G as the Magpies look to extend their top of the table winning streak while the Hawks strive to bounce back from a couple of recent defeats and stay in contention for the Top 4. On Saturday the Suns, buoyed by 3 wins on the trot, face the Dockers in a clash crucial for both teams' aspirations this season. The Suns want to solidify their Top 4 standing whilst the Dockers will be desperate to break into the 8.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.
