Dunn, Maric, Petterd, all look a class above, with maric and petterd combining well a few times.

And cook looks like he is going to be special, getting into the right spaces and marking well.

all of melbournes listed players are contributing, and look to be streets ahead of this collingwood vfl side.

CAsey are playing like Melbourne did last week. I interesting to see Rob Campbell in full flight. Is giving Casey mid field an arm chair ride

Given Petterd and Bate are playing for Casey, that leaves Bartram, and I would assume if he's fit he isn't going to sit around as an emergency, and thus he will be in for Evans (well, he could be in for Jones, Gawn or Jetta, but I can't imagine any of them making way for him).

Can't say I'm surprised, but also can't say I'm happy. I'd rather Evans have kept his spot and Bartram had a week in the VFL to tune up. Moreover I, unlike others, don't see Bartram as a long term best 22, nor even a short term one, so I'm not one to rush him back in. Having said that, he plays his role, and I guess Evans hasn't exactly been dominating.

Ricky Bobby will be back at AFL level very soon. He has been dominant today.

Lucas Cook is also looking great. Come 2012 he'll be a regular at AFL level. There's no doubt in my mind he'll make the grade.

This raises a question in my mind;

Hypothetically, if we were to acquire another tall forward, say Tom Lynch from GC - would you play all 3 in the forward line (Watts, Cook, Lynch) or would you play Watts on a wing, or HBF or something?

I'd be thinking Cook deep FF, Lynch CHF and Watts on a wing.

It's just that, Watts & Cook are very close to the same age and have a lot of years ahead of them. It's conceivable that we will have another gun forward pop up over that time and will find ourselves with this kind of "problem".

Robbie Campbell playing most of game time in the ruck guys?

Campbell is still being handled conservatively at the moment. He's probably getting about 60% of game time and, when off, he spends a bit of time with the trainers being massaged and doing stretches.

Casey has started the quarter strongly with a free kick and a great shot at goal from Tom McNamara on the boundary followed by a fantastic snap from Blease on the run. Dunn has just sold some candy for his fifth and, all of a sudden, it's Casey by 53 points.

Unselfish play by Dunn gets the ball to Maric who gets a 50 metre penalty. Goal!!!

Siren and a 7 goal win to Casey which keeps the Scorps in the top four.

Ricky Petterd with in excess of 30 disposals is easily the best on ground.

Some sloppy play from from Casey has let Collingwood in for some late goals. Lead is 36 points but too many turnovers in the last quarter.

ABC commentators absolutely creaming over Cook... one seems to have ties with him, and mention that "Cooks manager is very excited by his prospect" anyone hear this comment??

Fev has also been good, playing a great team game

Commentators also saying how good Warnock is and that ALOT of AFL clubs would kill to have him play FB, he is good but i find he struggles at AFL (a little), dominates VFL tho

Sam Blease is a jet plane ... how was his run from HB to HF.... slaughtered the kick on the end however

Cook kicked four and should have had more (and that rotten Fevola stole a mark off him in the second). The stats have him at only 81 kg but it looks like he can play football. I'm happy to have him spend the rest of the year at Casey. He's got good hands, good feet and a good head. He just needs to bulk up and improve the defensive side of his game.

Blease did some very good things; maybe he needs to copy Stockdale and increase his work rate.

Garland was quiet, yet he will probably play next week.

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form
