Ok, go on... tell me, what are your medical qualifications?

Don't have any genius but unlike you I do know what went down with Scullys knee and it was a post op balls up .

I am guessing that Hawthorn and there highly paid medical staff are to blame for all their knee injuries!

Seriously, just becuase they pay a bit more does not mean their doctors are any better or that we have people who have no idea what they are doing.

They may have some better facilities to help with recovery but to blame the staff is ridiculous.

People spend too much time trying to find reasons or excuses to blame for our form.

how can you say that

i don't care if you are talking about the bootstudder, if you pay the most you are going to get the best one and there is going to be a difference

in terms of facilities it is even more pronounced

Let's sack them as well.

At this rate the only staff left at MFC next year will be the bootstudders.

Our players seem to slip over a fair bit so sack them as well...

As a physiotherapist, I have to say this is the stupidest post I have ever seen.....EVER, and I'm not going to give it credibility by explaining why. Take it down before someone gets hurt!

If this doesn't get taken down, and someone does get hurt, I'm blaming our medical staff.

Curry and Beer, paying the most does not guarantee you will get the best, but it does quarantee you are paying the most!

The way you and some others look at it you are implying that because we dont pay the most that our Doctors and medical staff dont know what they are doing. It is a shallow view in my opinion.

They may be paid less but they are still proffessionals in their field.

He's also insinuating that all club medical departments are made up of mercenaries who go where the money is.

This is certainly not the case.

There's nothing wrong with asking the question. But then you've got to weigh up the evidence before having a crack.

If Scully's injury has been mismanaged in any way, he will almost certainly leave and cite this as the reason, so the stakes are huge. But there's nothing whatsoever to suggest even the slightest mismanagement, and if there was "a post-op balls-up" then he would not have been able to play out last year without any apparent trouble.

you've got to be joking

if you are at the head of your field, and you have a CV that reflects an impressive academic and professional history, and you are looking fo a job, why in the name of christ would you go to Melbourne and do exactly the same job for half the wage. Cash is probably your number 1 priority like it is for everyone else on the planet. Have you ever seen a GP or other medical specialist, or any professional for that matter, that made you realise the last bloke you saw didn't know what he was doing? because i certainly have

the same thing applies to the position of senior coach FCS, for which we also shell out bargain basement remuneration. People are talking about Malthouse coming here well you can bet your jewels that will not happen unless nobody else wants him, because practically everyone will outbid us and of course he will take it. That's what happened with Chris Judd or else he would be our captain niw. How friggin obvious does it need to be

man there's a lot of head in the sanders lately..

Not necessarily disagreeing with your point

But re "they are still proffessionals in their field." doesn't in of itself mean anything

You would understand if you watched 4 corners last night and the sports centre surgeon who is still the Adelaide Netball club's doctor.

Not saying there is any reflection or relationship to the MFC medical staff

exactly, this 'all professionals are created equal' attitude is quite bizarre and completely wrong to be frank

and to suggest there is no correlation between quality and payscale is just as crazy

Be careful what you say about the medical profession when it comes to pay vs quality

Just think of a certain Dr Geoffrey .......

The medical profession is a very closed society and not easy to evaluate from outside (or sometimes from inside - see Qld)

so very true...The Medical Profession runs its own rules in many areas because it is so special & necessary.

If you are sick or in pain you will not argue price.

We want players to go in harder, but we don't want contact injuries.

When players get a contact injury, we want them to recover properly, but we don't like it taking long.

When it does take a long time, we blame the medicos?

Can't win.

Medicos are not miracle workers. Tissue injuries take as long as they are going to take.

I think we should sack the bootstudders as well. The injuries are clearly related to improperly adjusted studs.

Easily the most ridiculous thread I have seen since I've been on the site.

yeah i know, fancy people being dense enough to think that all medicos are the same, there is no correlation between quality of service and salary and that having a massive injury list every single year is simply bad luck

maybe we should just save a heap of coin and have volunteer supporters handle the injuries instead of doctors

fair dinkum are there any adults on this site

On the other hand it would be interesting to find out on a club by club basis stats on injuries. Stats such as how many weeks are missed due to injury, how many of the list miss 1 or more weeks etc. I would be surprised if the stats aren't available somewhere, but I doubt they are available to the general punter.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
