Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

AFL House protest

I have had a gutful!

The Trengove tackle just broke the camels back for me...what about any others ??

Time to stand up and be counted All Clubs

Not just MFC and its supporters

WE MARCH ON AFL HOUSE

First we lose the MCG because the AFL wanted to make more $$$

Then they disband the Reserve Grade. so the ground doesnt get all messy

and takes away the nice pretty look on tele.

Dish up this crap entertainment at 1/2 time

Now they are considering an about face with the Reserve Grade, could return ??(at a cost)

All teams are FORCED to wear an away strip ( few exceptions ) regardless

if there is a clash with opposition colours or not.

New teams allowed to have colours already existing to add the the clash [censored].

Thats just for starters.

Now look at the big picture

Rules Committee what a joke

Rule changes every year, some just dont make any sense

In fact are adding too more confusion

MRP = Moron setup.

I was all for Tribunal by Video to stamp out king hits and the like

that went unnoticed behind the play or missed by the umpires

we still call them umpires,do we not ? or (is it a refree now)?

I suggest in light of the latest debacle

We organise a march (Rally) with all other clubs / supporters

on AFL House and really let them know what we think.

We gave it to the FD and board and players for that crap

they dished up against the Weagles.

They responded by showing they hurt from the criticism they copped.

Now its our turn again to stand up, not just for a player in question

but for the whole club and our unique game

and what these idiots are doing to our game.

WE MARCH ON AFL HOUSE

They heard us loud and clear when we vented our disgust

with the shoddy performance 2 weeks ago.

Lets take it to another level we have the numbers

(ie twitter and facebook) everyone from all clubs have

voiced their disgust.

For too long we have been lead by the nose, the whipping boys

Well no more mister nice guys, we mean business

LETS MARCH!

We should all send as many Marshmellow to AFL House in protest ala the campaign in the US to save the TV show Jericho from cancellation where fans sent 18,000 kg of nuts to the CBS network.

Fan protest saves US show Jericho

Post-apocalypse TV drama Jericho has been saved from cancellation following an internet campaign by its fans.

US TV network CBS axed the show last month, triggering a protest that culminated in shipments of nuts being sent to the broadcaster.

"Wow!" said CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler in a letter to the fans. "You got our attention."

Tassler said seven new episodes of the drama had been ordered, with more to follow if ratings improve.

"We will count on you to rally around the show, to recruit new viewers with the same grass-roots energy, intensity and volume you have displayed in recent weeks," said Tassler.

"PS. Please stop sending us nuts."

'Incredible'

Jericho is set in a Kansas town whose residents have survived a series of nuclear explosions throughout the US.

The show launched last autumn to positive reviews and encouraging ratings.

After it returned from a three-month mid-season break, however, its viewing figures plummeted, prompting CBS to cancel the show.

The decision enraged fans, who started a letter-writing campaign.

After the season finale, in which one of the characters responds to a demand by saying "nuts", protesters also began sending peanuts to CBS offices.

According to the Nuts For Jericho campaign website, about 18,000 kg of nuts were delivered before the network capitulated.

I don't know, I think maybe we can come up with something even more lame than that...

Seriously, the Jericho thing was about CBS responding to viewers showing clear support for the product and there was potential that this could be translated into increased viewership and in turn more $. (In the end it didn't really work anyway.)

The AFL is not concerned about $ or expanding its audience in this case (in the short term, that is).

Best bet is to utilise the crowd for the game than risk poor turnout at another event.

Meet in a nominated place before the game.

Placards, chants, marshmallows lots of people. Organise your back turning time etc during the rally.

Notify all media.

Top article.

Hopefully Dimwitriou and AA have a read of that.

Yes, a very nice write. Andy, Adrian and the rest would feign agreement with the sentiment no doubt but their greater concern has never been the game it has always simply been the bottom line in the ledger. The dollar comes first and last and liabilities wherever possible, even at the game's expense, must be minimised.

If we just roll over like a puppy dog, the AFL will just take the Tackling issue and the eroding physical nature of the game with a grain of salt. If we embarass them the media will get on board the case.

This is beyond Trenners now, and is 2fold about the physical game,,,,BUT also about the Lack of Voice that non Super Power clubs get...

Amazing the AFL allowed this to be posted on the site

Good stuff.

Nice conclusion:

I want to plead with our administrators, legislators, and adjudicators to guard against this devolution of the game, so that when I one day take my grandson to his first game at the MCG, I am not taking him to witness some bizarre use of the Sherrin in a giant super-sanitised game of lawn bowls.

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again headlining another blockbuster at the MCG to kick off the round of footy. MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
