I got tore up on this site for saying that Grimes and Bate's kicking were major deficiencies. It's always a matter of time until everyone see's where I'm coming from. You lot should be embarassed. No idea how to spot deficiencies. At the same time, no idea how to spot talent. ie. Scully. Scully doesn't have a bad kick, he has an elite kick. When he retires as a GWS player he will go down as being an elite kick.

Who are you talking to?

You are posting at shadows man.

That's the thing Clint, he improved in all those aspects in the one quarter he had a chance to.

Perhaps that was the driver for making him the sub as the first place - it's probably even more effective than a week at Casey. "Here, son, sit here on the bench for three quarters and watch while your teammates hit the scoreboard hard."

Nothing makes a bloke more hungry than watching all his mates eat steak.

This is fun - Here is my take:

Green - yips but good

Jones - kicked really well

Bartram - brave but average

Watts - played Q4 well

Gysberts - good hands inclose

Bennell - clever but limited

Frawley - held his own

Trengove - super super game

Morton - good second game

Sylvia - brilliant second half

Dunn - not aggressive enough

Grimes - kicking needs work

Garland - relatively unnoticed today

Moloney - excellent superior game

Jurrah - good forward pressure

Rivers - forward delivery good

Wonaeamirri - worked hard today

Martin - more confident today

Tapscott - looks very settled

Davey - liked his game

Jamar - kicked goals today

Bail - keeps getting better

Posted

Green - waiting for spark

Jones - struggled for involvement

Bartram - no offensive output

Watts - finally promising signs

Gysberts - quieter than usual

Bennell - 6 INSIDE 50's!

Frawley - didn't really care (and fair enough ;) )

Trengove - star in making

Morton - finding some form

Sylvia - incredible in junktime

Dunn - only good early

Grimes - standard grimes performance

Garland - could've performed better

Moloney - give back VCaptaincy

Jurrah - so so exciting!

Rivers - another solid game

Wonaeamirri - key to forward-pressure

Martin - our second ruckman

Tapscott - time for rest?

Davey - starting to question

Jamar - All Australian 2011

Bail - our new gem!

Just a quick one..

Grimes had 27 touches.. how is he not prolific.

I think we used to talk him up so so much that we've now done a complete reversal where if he misses a target he's the new Cam Bruce or if he doesn't touch it 30 times he's gone missing.

Three word analysis of this thread:

Some are fickle.

Can't see the point of dropping anyone after a 90 point win.

Watched the game, thought Beamer, Trenners, Flash and Bail looked like to be hitting some nice form.

Rivo is also doing well down back.

Did Gys look a tad slow? Seemed to get caught with the pill a fair bit.

Grimes - the new Bruce

I was thinking the same during the game.

Wev'e swapped one poor kick for another, execpt grimes errors are now costing more.

How do you get a game in AFL not being able to consistently hit targets.

Grimes - the new Bruce

Except harder, smarter, a better defender, a better reader of the play and a better leader. But apart from that, he is exactly like Bruce

His kicking isn't great, but it's his decision making that's the problem. Even Davey would have trouble with the dinky little passes that Grimes too often attempts.

I disagree on at least 3 of the 5 charatceristics you nominate. You figure it out.

Accepting mediocre skills on any player will just keep on costing us when it counts.

I give up.

This board is draining my life.

Enjoy busking in negativity and MFCSS.

Nothing wrong with Watts. He deserved more than one quarter, and he showed enough.

I saw Watts give as much to the team in his quarter than Dunn did in his match. Dunn's intensity is pathetic. I'd send him to Casey this week and if he doesn't perform there he goes for Petterd.

Bennell is getting far more praise than he deserves. Again failed to play an entire match. He looks good, sure, but then he disappears for 20 minutes.

Agree. Watts just needs to keep playing. It will click one day. At the moment he takes a good mark, then stuffs the kick, does a good tap but then falls over, then does a nice kick.... one day it'll all come together.

We need to just keep pumping games into Watts and all our youngsters.

Watts in 2 years time: 196cm, 95kg, 60 games, 2.78second over 20m, elite skills= scary!

What does this mean? We don't accept it! Lets say, for the sake of argument "we" don't accept mediocre skills what will happen?

We would have to be the only supporter base that lynches players after a 90 point win.

Grimes and Watts are copping a bashing. Watts played about 1 quarter, and Grimes had the odd clanger kick but in the end we won by 90 points people, give it a rest. The advantage of a winning team is that it allows players to build some form at the top level without costing the club wins.

The Dees aren't great, but we are winning so save the stake burning for a 90 point loss.

Enjoy the win!

The new Bruce? Unreal.

Joeboy, the guy had 27 touches - how much more prolific do you want him to be?

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round.
