Alistair Lynch on Tom Scully on AFL Insiders

Urged on by Jason Dunstall, Alistair Lynch (Tom Scully manager) said Scully is doing absolutely fantastically (implying he has veryhigh value), and said "I'm sure he will sign a contract at the end of the year" to which Jason Dunstall said "which means he is going to GWS". Lynch just smiled.

Draw your own conclusions....

Which to me said "he ain't going anywhere"

To me it says absolutely nothing.

There is no indication either way.

What a waste of the Internet...

Still a MFC player if and when I hear any different I'll worry then.

Can't spend your life as a supporter jumping at shadows perpetuated

By an opposition president.

When Scully gets back on the track I will be most interested to see whether he has modified his 'floating chip' kicking action which our forwards will never get on the end of. If he was at a club like collingwood they would hammer that out of him over a couple of summers.

Lynch is his manager so his number 1 responsibility is NOT to give away if Scully has or hasn't signed with GWS.

Let's assume Lynch knows Scully WILL DEFINITELY sign with GWS, and he was confronted with the statment 'which means he is going to GWS'. If it was me, I would 100% go on the front foot and be defensive and answer the question by saying 'nothing will be known till end of the year'. The fact he didn't have a defensive answer to that statement means he doesn't feel the need to.

Agreed. I opened this thinking it was going to be something substantial.

Maybe we should make a sub forum for all Scully - GWS threads.

Really????

Other than a confirmation he has signed with someone what was your thought before you opened this?

Garbage thread.

It was posted after his manager discussed the situation, fair enough I would've thought otherwise why bother responding????

Garbage response as better to say nothing RR. Geez...

I agree that the Scully situation should be confined to one thread. But others within this thread with their high horse moral ground come straight to the Scully thread, seemingly so that can shout loud it means nothing.

Why?

Do you all think shouting loud enough will change anything?

Are you just wanting to make your case so you can say "I told you so" to people you don't even know?

It's worth a discussion especially after his manager brings it up. Don't bloody open the thread then.

This topic will go on until a contract is signed, get used to it or ignore it.

Until your outrage when he is in the V Line jumper!

Wow. Crappy thread, sure, but the title is really the hum dinger here... It has no correlation whatsoever to the OP...

Is this what demonland's come to?

Aaah. Leave it up here as a cautionary tale.

I watched it and the only inference I gleaned, albeit a small one, was that he'd stay with Melbourne. He spoke of the CBA and that he was sure he'd sign at the end of the year, which is when Dunstall made his quip about GWS and all Lynch could do at Dunstall's throw away line was smile.

You read it one way and me the other.

The title say 'Alistair Lynch on Tom Scully'

I was expecting more than 'Tom will sign a contract at the end of the year'

I expected a decent paragraph of info from Lynch's point of view. Maybe some inside information.

Why could this have not been added onto the end of one of the other Scully threads?

This thread is a complete load of trash. We will know one way or the other whenever he signs and know then with whom. Guys, please let's leave this alone. It is surly getting us all down.

That is how I read it, despite no indication either way.

As an aside, the opening poster suggested "draw your own conclusions" - some of the replies to date have seriously lacked topic related substance - if anything...nothing - and were deleted as such. It is something of interest to Melbourne supporters (despite some posters being fed up with the topic) regarding a Foxtel programme AFL insiders , and comments from an associate of Velocity Sports (Alastair Lynch) - Tom Scully's management company, those who don't like it shouldn't have to comment.

I agree with this - even your use of the word "whom" was correct in this instance.

Thats what I thought too, and god I hope you're right.

If there was a Message Board Quote Of The Year award, you'd win it. I'm stealing that.

Seriously, Dunstall doing an Eddy and trying to make this an issue again isn't worth the effort it takes to type the OP. He has no information and Lynch gave him nothing.

How many possies has he racked up this year? How many best on grounds?

Last time I checked he was 3-4 weeks off.

If anything, his value is idle until he can get back on the field to play good footy.

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
