Well said cranky. We'll see how our youth policy works without Junior and Cameron. We could have had both this season if not for the so called 'youth policy'. Successful clubs manage to combine youth and experience. We are lacking badly in the latter. Time will tell.

Successfull clubs rebuild off a quality list and culture that's not run down.

We've gone deeper back to the bone, with our list, and had to bottom out to do it. The old list, (excepting Junior) was of the old culture. Greeny has turned himself around, and inside out, improving over the last 3 Years.

Hardly a debacle. Now that the dust has settled im very happy for Bruce to be at the hawks. He has a shot at a flag and he will make them a better team. All he would be doing for us is taking the spot of a youngster.

And I also hate the way Bruce is lumped together with JMac as if they are tacitly saying that they had a commensurate level of leadership...

In terms of leaders at our club over the past few years, it has been:

Junior.

That is all.

Now we need the next level of leaders to assert themselves and it starts on Sunday.

The exit of CB at the end of 2010 will prove a blessing in disguise ( for more than 1 reason).

Other than what has already been discussed, the most notable will be the retention of 1 or more of our young guns over the next 2 years due to relief in salary cap pressure.

Do we want flags from 2013 onwards or to end the seasons 2011 & 2012 in 7th and 5th place ?

Cam Bruces best chances of a flag was when he himself was a youngster at the Dee's or now with the Dorks, it was the right move for all party's involved- a classic win-win situation imo.

Most people are missing the point.

I want to know why our well paid list managers turn up to trading week & draft day without having the current players sorted - that means either signed on the dotted line, traded or delisted.

If CB didn't want to sign it should have been sorted out prior to the draft.

CB deceived the football dept to get to his new club on the cheap.

He did what was in the best interests of the hawks, and by proxy, himself.

He had his eye on a move whilst games were still being played.

I am generally very happy with the Club but it needs a kick up the rear over the Bruce saga.

We were told the deal was done just a matter of finalising a few minor details. Well the deal was not done & CB walked.

Surely you need to have your list finalised BEFORE the trading period & the draft. There should have been a deadline of signing on well before the draft & trading.

If this had been sorted MAYBE we would have got a small token for releasing CB or MAYBE we would have kept Cheney or MAYBE we would have kept on Junior as insurance for another year.

Sloppy work by the Club. If I did the same thing in my job I would get the sack.

Sounds like someone just got their MFC jumper out of the drawer and realised there was a Number 32 on it.

What e25 said. In addition, contracts expire Oct 31st. Even after trade week Bailey was confident (publicly) that Bruce would put pen to paper and train as good as he does every pre-season.
