On a bigfooty thread someone claiming to know Tom says he was confronted by an angry fan whilst he was out and about. Apparently made quite the scene. This worries me, if he hasn't made a decision fans in his face all year could make it easier to leave.

There are always gunna be peanuts out there, but I believe that Tom would be able to rationalise that they are not representative of the whole, additionally, Bigfooty is about as factual as Fox News

Also, representative of the sad times we live in where the notion of celebrity fascinates the masses rather than more pressing issues.

Last year saw a group of Melb players at Chaddy including Petterd who at the time was yet to sign and was widely predicted to head to GC, i didn't bother goin up and encouraging him to stay at the dees as I know my words would have no impact on his final decision and I could imagine they just want to be left the F%^k alone.

The only people who should be approaching football players are pretty young starf%^ers and children who want an autograph anyone else really needs to review their life

If this allegation has any substance then it highlights the need for a quick resolution.

SEN are braodcasting the interview live in about 15-20 minutes according to KB.

Well the allegation have substance but why should Tom jeopardize his position because fans are being idiots. If I was Tom I would start to ensure that all my attendances scheduled by the club could be reduced to a minimum. At the sponsor dinner on Tuesday one elderly lady came up and was begging for him to resign and it looked pretty sad. Most just shook his hand and said good luck for the season hope it won't be your last.

p.s lets hope his presser is cut straight from the peddlebery one

Interesting to note that Pendlebury has stated he wants to be a one club player and remain at Collingwood. He did however, mention that he would sign a contract later in the season once the Collective Bargain Agreement was all sorted out. That's all we need Tom to declare this morning. He wants to stay but he's waiting til the time is right to sign a contract. Nothing more and hopefully nothing less.

Posted

Are you Tom's new manager?

Do you honestly feel that Tom doesn't have the right to wait until the end of his current contract to negotiate a new one? The whole point of a contract is that you agree to certain terms for a certain period of time. If you are satisfied with the way things have played out during your contract, the you may choose to negotiate an extension. Otherwise, you can wait until the expiration of the contract to decide whether or not to negotiate a new one.

Scully is still a contracted MFC player, and as such we as supporters should be treating him like one. In my opinion, there is little to no substance to the rumours that he has signed with GWS, and as such we should not treat Tom as if he has betrayed us. Stop being so paranoid and look forward to an exciting year for the Demons WITH Scully.

It's people like you that have the goal of making everyone else paranoid that create awkward situations like the one mentioned on Big Footy for Scully.

Apparently Scully has said there is nothing on the table and that he is fully committed to the Dees for 2011 and beyond. Has said he wants to end his career as a one club player.

THere was an interesting article in THE Age this morning quoting Pendlebury saying how he is waiting to sign his new contract until the rights carve-up is known. Hopefully this is Scully's situation, too.

Posted

Because from what i can gather and hear about the TV rights situation at present, nobody knows what it will be. The big wads of cash that everybody thought were sure to be here are nowhere near as large.

Ch.9 do not appear to want to be a big player and that is big because it means Ch 7 can sit back and dictate terms. Why pay more when nobody is fighting.

It may heat up, but at the moment it seems to be a waiting game.

Following on from that there is an interesting article in today's Age, link attached, and if it's correct the AFL may have a few problems on their plate. I believe the amount of money spent on the expansion teams was premised on there being a bigger return from the television rights and if they only get $50m instead of the expected $250m they may be a bit red faced.

The additional $10m a year is less that what they have agreed to fund the Giants over the next 3 years and will mean they will have to fund them out of existing funds. The whole idea of the expansion teams was to increase TV revenue and if that doesn’t happen then what is the point.

Gubby Allan's plan coming to fruition.

Spread rumours.

Sit back.

Let the idiot brigade's imagination run wild.

Scully gets harrassed by said idiots.

His environment not as appealing as it once was.

Scully searches for an alternative to escape that attention.

It's so damn simple, yet some very simple people still don't seem to get it...

Key quote for mine:

"I want to be a one-club player and I expect that to be the case."

I am at work and could not hear the presser.

Any chance of a run down, link etc.

Really keen to hear what was said.

Scully, his family, his managment has had no approach at all from GWS according to Scully (he said absoutley)

Wants to be a one club player as it is important to his values- would love to be a one club player and anticpiate that it will happen.

Past month has been a learning experience

Just wants to go out and play footy week to week and do the best by the club

Management and I decided to just concentrate on footy until the end of the year

Scully's idea for the media conference, club totally supportive, he has nothing to hide

love his team mates, enjoys going to work every morning.

Can't control the media, doesn;t concern me whatever the media does

Mike Sheahan rebuke-asked if his father had been approcarched, scully said absolutely not

Scully has not absolutley idea where the speculation has come from

Club has been fantastic to me, coaches staff have been great.

Had a great chat with Jimmy.

He feels no pressure

if he recieved an offer from GWA he would lokk at it (of course he was implying that if he received a contract offer from anyone of course you would have to look at it like anything else)

Money doesnt matter, he absolutley loves the club, can see where we are going on and off the field and he wants to be part of the future.

thought he did that very well

the only thing i didn't like was he completely dodged the 'why don't you just sign now and get it out of the way' question

Posted

one thing he said was that 'it comes down to values' when asked how he could resist that much money, and that money is not something he thinks about

interesting that Sheahan really seemed to be challenging him on whether he (or more precisely, his father) has spoken to GWS, he firmly denied it

KB: 'It wasn't completely put to bed' sums it up perfectly
