Robert Campbell injured

COMEBACK ruckman Robert Campbell has suffered an injury setback with achilles tendinitis restricting his pre-season.

Injury hinders Demon Robert Campbell's return

Given the time off he has had from top level football and training it is not surprising.

His knowledge and perspective will still be great for the young blokes while he gets his body right.

This will almost definately remove any chance of him being the promoted rookie meaning Nicholson is sure to get it (barring injury).

Campbell can then focus on getting his body right and fitness up over the first 12 weeks of the season so he then can stake his claim for the mid year rookie promotion spot.

To me, thats what we need him for mostly,,, a backup if the Russian goes down.

I'd like to see him keep his body fresh for a callup, and play @ Casey helping the young ones, and staying out of trouble.

I'd want to see Spencer pushing hard for the rucking berth.

Agree with that. We can't punt on Campbell as our senior rookie upgrade unless he's 100%

Depending on what happens in the NAB Cup you'd think either Nicholson or Newton would get the nod.

Do we need to make a decision on the replacement for Bruce before the season commences?

If not, I'd be happy to wait until one of the rookies has earned selection in the senior side.

Why burn the upgrade on a projection?

I am pretty sure we don't need to choose one before they earn selection. Exactly right re: risk of a projection. Wait til one is shining in the VFL and earns a spot.

Logical. We have a good list of players all trying to get a game at the moment and there is no reason not to wait and see if a rookie shines and deserves a game in the seniors. It would be disappointing to promote someone who has no impact while a rookie is starring and cannot get uplifted.

Sorry OX 5 didn't see your post while I was typing.

Lets assume Campbell gets fit and stays fit. He is still there as insurance against Jamar getting injured.

If Jamar goes seriously lame, and gets put on the LTI list, them we can promote Campbell, no drama. The only reason to promote him otherwise would be if we need him to fill in for a short term injury to Jamar or to give Jamar an occassional week off during the seasdon to preserve him. Do we need to promote him now for the full season to achieve this? Maybe look for someone else to go LTI instead.

I want to see Jamar rucking with Spencer mostly, and maybe a try out of Gawn, Fitzpatrick or Martin. Not Newton. He's 192cn. That's a garden gnome when it comes to ruck work. So that we finish 2011 with one or two final games, a fit Jamar, an adequate backup in Spencer and a couple of youngs (Gawn & Fitzpatrick) who have had a taste of seniors.

Heard a whisper that this was a pre-existing injury that Campbell didn't disclose and now the Club is filthy.

Can't comment on how correct it is, just what I've heard.

Commence lynching now.

Iam sick of this type of crap being posted. To me, the club is smarter than that. To me, it is misleading and and belittling to our football department whom have done a stirling job over the last few years.

Heard a whisper that Mark Jamar wears crotchless lace knicker on game day.

Can't confirm how correct it is.

I may be naive but I believe that the club would have done its research in this area and in the circumtsances had a full medical done on the player.

According to yesetrday's Herald Sun he has a two week injury. If that's right, the rumour's bollocks.

If he's out longer than James Frawley there might possibly be some truth in the rumour but why would a premiership player of such impeccable integrity in the past, tell whoppers to get paid rookie wages?

The rumour really doesn't make any sense to me.

Some supporters may not recognise it, but Campbell's presence off-field will have more impact than his presence on-field.

If Spencer, Martin and our other bigs develop quicker than expected, I bet he'll have something to do with it.

Whether he plays or not, a shrewd move by the club.

We rookied him for the reason that he's vulnerable physically. He's a backup senior ruckman incase the Russian goes down.

Or, if he strikes golden form, then thats a massive bonus.

So, if he's not available for the start of the season. It doesn't matter.

Ah Ah Ah, LoL. ahhh, you gotta laugh, or go mad. People are so bored, they just want to argue over nothing, or make someone else as angry, or as frustrated as them.

So, a little sillyness or fun goes a long way when there's not much to stimulate the lazy brains.

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence. BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin
