Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Weak year, the best of all of them is Houli. He will be a quality player, and an excellent pick up for the Toigs, PSD pick for him is cheap. If we had an earlier PSD pick I would take him. I still don't understand how essendon failed so badly with him.

As unpalatable as it seems, throw Neagle, Anthony, Thorp and a vew other VFL KP forwards into a lineup and pick the one that has the best chance of turning their career around. I am prepared to back the FD to pick the best one, and to provide them an environment that has the necessary ingredients that their previous club did not.

Melbourne has four spaces on its player list. Bruce leaving doesn't make any difference because he was a veteran, it only frees up an extra rookie spot.

We currently have #12, #33, #50 and #53 in the ND. The only way to get a PSD pick at all is to forego #53 ... or delist another player.

No to Neagle

No to Anthony

No to Thorp.

Personally I think the club will gamble on Thorp. He has the pedigree if not much else. I hope they keep a very tight leash on him.

Then Forego 53, still value for Houli from where I sit.

If you listen to the papers, it seems we will be doing just that, except not for Houli.

if we had too take one and thats a big 'IF' id want thorp neagle is a disgusting footballer i reckon he'd battle at my divy 3 side to get a kick, and jack anthony is roughly the same size as green petterd dunn watts jurrah and bate, yes he may have kicked 50 once but id rather just see how our boys go.... also if it came to having neagle or anthony though id go with anthony just coz neagle is sooo bad!

IF we had to take one: Maybe Neagle, based purely on the fact that I feel Collingwood got the best out of Anthony when he kicked 50, they have been a well resourced and a well coached club over his time there. Essendon have been well resourced and poorly coached. I have no doubt Neagle has more to offer than what he has shown, but it will need to be significantly more to make it a worthwhile option.

We got MacDonald last year. Good value so far. And Jurrah too though he ended up there by accident.

Your comment was on overall. MacDonald is so-so. Jurrah was the previous year to JoelMac and is an exception to the case but the rest of the PSDs in both years were very much same same.

If forced to choose between Thorp, Anthony and Neagle I'd lean towards Thorp because, to some degree, injuries may have precluded him from reproducing the ability and form he showed as a junior. If he can get his body (and apparently his head) right, he might be worth a punt with our last pick. But TBH I'd be more optimistic punting on a relative 'unknown' from the VFL, SANFL or WAFL. I'm glad we have a highly competent FD to make these decisions.

If we had to choose one it'd be Thorp, surely. Neagle has no attitude for training nor for second efforts. Anthony's second efforts are just as bad. Thorp might have some talent hidden amongst the off-field poo. I can't see Neagle's.

Nearly all players have baggage - good "coaches & FD's" handle/manage it - bad "coaches & FD's" blame the player.

The media never tries to bite the hand that feeds it.

I think we're all clutching at straws.

How about we bring them all down to AAMI park and play jack in the pack, whoever ends up with the ball gets the gig.

The quality is low. Hopefully the club continue the focus they have maintained thus far and not look at any of these players unless confident they could see something in them.

If they do, I'll back their decision as I have with Junior, Bruce and many other stances they have taken. I just can't see it coming from an Anthony or Neagle.

I prefer to see the FD rely on having quality foot skills/ball use coming into a forward line that has enough options at his disposal already.

Hearing Paul Hamilton just a second ago on SEN radio...

Apparently both Neagle & Atkinson have both shown over their 10 days of preseason so far, that their training standards are not up to scratch.

I didn't catch the name, but they were given 2 days to improve their attitude & intensity and one of the players didn't even bother showing up to training the next day.

Definitely not what we want at our club.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
