2010 Player Review - # 43 Jamie Bennell

Electrifying pace. Breaks lines & takes the game on.

Looks brilliant at times but flashes in & out of games far too much at this stage.

Valuable player.

Still not sure what his best position is.

Needs more consistency.

Showed some soft efforts at times, but later efforts showed it is something he will eradicate from his game.

I think it'll end up being HBF/wing.

And a bloody handy one too.

yep, when we are the side to beat and they are desperately trying to cover all of our stars, this is one of the blokes who will be way down the list and will wreak havoc. Has already shown on a number of occassions he can fabricate a goal from nothing at critical times

Bennell is our smartest footballer. He just needs to learn to be in the right spots to crumb and get his hands on the footy.

Love the way he sprints up the wing from kick ins, takes a mark and delivers it to our forward line.

Will be a great player in the future, can guarantee it.

He's one of the most interesting players we have on the list at the moment. I'm still not completely sold, if I'm being honest. Though I want to be. When he's good, he shows he can break games open, but his form has been patchy at times... He'll be gievn chances, because he brings a lot to the table... and that's fair enough. But I'd like to see him play four quarters a few weeks in a row.

Could be anything, could be mediocre. Unlike a lot of players, the end product could fall just about anywhere on the scale.

Needs to learn how to stay in games more consistently IMO. There are whole quarters/halves where I forget that he's playing.

Having said that, can be a very damaging footballer when he is involved.

In 3 or 4 years time when we're up and flying he'll come into his own. Needs to learn to accept impact and needs to build his engine. Could be a really good footballer or could be traded for pick 40, we'll wait and see.

Bennell shows promise as do alot of our players. If he continues to go missing for long periods and shy away from the hard contest we will trade him for around pick 40 or so. As I said this is only one of the options but you may have been too upset to read the whole post.

Smartest footballer?

Maybe you want to re-think that comment.

Or even think it.

Hi I'm E25,

I like to troll other peoples post every day and question their opinion.

I know what I see in Bennell, and if you cant see it your watching a different game.

Just because he doesn't rack up the stats to your liking - doesn't mean he doesn't make the cut of being a smart player.

You watch the way he knows how to get clear, or shrug a tackle, or when to speed, or trap the ball.

You obviously don't see the little things, just the big picture.

All I see here is sarcasm and cut nerd statements.

You really wouldn't know talent if it slapped you in your face, take away the stat sheet and your nothing mate.

Sorry about this post, but you really think your a hot shot please change your attitude your driving people away from demonland.com

I'd happily drive you away.

Unfortunately you're like a bloody ignorant cockroach.

Still, nothing close to an argument.

I've acknowledged Bennell's talent, but I question how you could possibly claim he's the smartest player on our list.

Still you haven't even provided a hint of an argument, merely attacking someone for darkg to disagree with you opinion.

Fortunately the majority of posters on this forum aren't foolish enough to fall for your feeble attempts at misdirection.

Keep trying.

Mate, every thread I click on I see you belittling every ones comments its disgusting. You can't post on this forum without having to think your going to defend every little thing you say from someone as Hitler like as you.

But ok cut nerd, let me EXPLAIN TO YOU why I think Bennell is our smartest footballer.

1) Whenever I see a player pick up the ball and INSTANTLY get tackled I face palm myself. When I see Bennell chase the ball, he taps the ball in front of him to gain a few extra meters for pace. He has massive awareness he does this pretty much every time.

2) Ever seem to wonder why he makes such a good contest for a grab even though his size would play a major impact for any other player?

Its because he knows when to jump and curl his hands so the ball hits on the ground in front of him, crumbing the spoils every time along the wing from kick ins. He does this every time and it always works

3) When he picks up the ball, he knows where to run and how to run with it. He takes the game on and finds amazing pace. This was shown against Sydney first quarter when he applied the accelerator and passed it to Dunn I think it was who kicked a goal. He does this every time but doesn't finish all the time.

Stop acting like your apart of the Melbourne Football Department, your a moderator on a website. Get your head straight.

I like Jimmy Bennell. He has plenty of attributes to become a fully fledged midfielder, at worst a damaging flanker. He is a smart footballer but needs to stay involved in the game more often. Adding more physicality to his game would help that, attacking balls around stoppages. He has all the talent to do damage if he applies himself in that area.

E25, GET ON THAT TELL HIM OFF QUICKLY!!

Attention to detail isn't one of your strong points, even though you're trying to make it seem like it is.

If Benny is so smart, he'd find more of the footy.

Most of what you spoke about was timing and technique.

And I'm not a mod.

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th
