Northern Bullants v Casey Scorpions

I said on Sunday straight after the Toiges game Chip was hobbling, hopefully I am wrong and my eyes deceived me, otherwise Warnock will play tomorrow & Chip will miss.

No doubt your eyes didn't deceive you, but nor does it mean that Frawley won't be playing.

Morton and Miller played.

Good win by Casey against a team that had a few names.

Well at least more established names. Another positive sign for us. Very keen to know how Blease went today after what I saw of him last week, live. I continue to rave about Blease because from what I see he will be a well established member of the Dees 22 by this time next year.

I was in the rooms after the game last week and chip looked fine...

The guy i was worried about was Jamar, but clearly he is playing...

If warnock plays and so does chip who comes out? IMO Garland (who should def keep his spot) isnt big bodied enough to play on roughhead or buddy...

Maybe Joel Mac or R. Bail to miss with Garland playing that running role while Warnock and Chip handle the twin towers...?

Very true. I hope to see Chip run out as I imagine you do. As important as Chip as quickly become it is relatively calming to have someone such as Warnock to fall back on.

Joel Mac will not be withdrawn unless injured. Our defence is rock solid at the moment and Joel is crucial in it.

Bail perhaps the unlucky one or maybe Warnock is simply on notice for if Chip doesn't pull up well on Game Day. The worst thing would be if Warnock played for Casey and then all of a sudden Chip is sore on Game Day and Warnock will need to play 2 full matches over 2 days!

Correct "Hannabal" when Casey plays on Saturday and Melbourne on Sunday someone misses out playing for Casey

Because the emergency player has to stay fresh in case there is a drop out in the Melbourne side before the game on Sunday.

Because Warnock did not play today does not mean he is the side for tomorrow.

This has happened in the past.

I think Warnock will miss out.

If they already knew that Frawley would not play Either Miller or Morton would not have appeared for Casey Today.

If Warnock was in for Frawley there would be no emergency player to cover a problem e.g. someone comes down with the flu tonight!

I think Frawley is playing!

I'll go with you Old Dee.

So, back to Casey, what was the final wash up of Grimes? Did he come back at any stage?

Other good players? Another good kicker to the Multi taken today, Casey paying $2.75 to Bullants $1.60, money for jam!

Grimes did not come back on and hobbled off at the end of the game. He will not play for a couple more weeks a trainer stated.

Blease played OK, however his leg is still troubling him. A good rest and a big pre season will help though.

I really enjoyed Juice's game today - lifted when the match was in the balance.

Cheney played another blinder also.

Fitzpatrick surprised me - played quite well against some big boys.

Which is at odds with your original statement.

Yes, in essence. I just liked the enthusiasm in the last line of old dee's post which was what I was referring to, in my own head anyway. I can see how answering old dee's post in that fashion could lead another person to summarise that I was going against my original statement when in fact I was not.

I do thank you though for picking up on that oversight and I will ensure to explain in full, explicit detail the reasoning behind each of my posts.

I do appreciate the policing you do around here though Hannabal, especially when it comes to hypocrisy or grammatically challenged posts. Keep up the good work.

Garland has stopped Franklin before. I see no reason why the job won't fall to him again.

Franklin still kicked 3 against him.

Quite a few Melbourne players were there watching in the stands including James Frawley who looked to be walking around without any discomfort.

Agree and all the coaches were there also.

You know... Warnock COULD possibly be coming in for another backman due to Hawthorn having some talls down back in Buddy, Roughead and Skipper who floats forward.

We have Garland, Joel Mac and Rivers who are mid-sized along with Frawley. Then there's Bartram and Bail (and Bennell too) who are "smalls".

We are not an overly tall backline so Warnock could come in to add height. All will be revealed...

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
