no pressure, look slow, horrible skills, poor delivery inside fifty, constantly put ourselves under unecessary pressure, poor tackles. Horrible horrible horrible

Typical of a young side. We're inconsistent. It's to be expected.

What I don't like is that IMO the lows are far too low, and the bad performances are dominated with terrible signs like a lack of intensity, ill-discipline, lack of leadership, laziness and turnovers.

Our highs show we can play fast football and match it with the best, but the lows are just far, far too low, even given our youth.

Lazy lazy lazy. No one prepared to work hard. Maybe tom scully, that is all. No intensity, thats what annoys the hell outta me!

Bruce isn't young, Rivers isn't young, Moloney isn't young, Sylvia isn't young, Jones isn't young.

They're just dumb. And not that good.

Spot on.

For as long as we have to rely on these players, we will continue to put up horrible performances.

It infuriates me to watch these players not put up so much as a whimper when challenged physically and mentally.

Agree totally Hannabal but you left out the biggest offender... Nathan Jones.

FMD this bloke has the football IQ of Forrest Gump. I know its been a dirty day for everyone but he just finds new ways to give away free kicks & ruin opportunities. I know he gives his best effort most weeks but he has been in the system for long enough to understand/play within his limitations(like Bartram) and learn from his mistakes.

The problem is that they're not that good and they're "leaders". You may have players who are "not that good" in your team, but not in your leadership group.

Get Grimes and Frawley into the leadership group. In terms of "good", replace Jones with Trengove, Bruce with Gysberts, Moloney with Tapscott, Sylvia with Petterd and Rivers with Grimes, throw in Blease and stir, and we might be getting somewhere.

How could you put Tapscott and Blease in the leadership group. How many games have they played?

Essentially agree . One might make an argument for Sylvia when on song . Jones might get better in the tagging role otherwise turn them over asap and bring in better decision makers who can use the ball properly.

Where did I say that?

Unless I misread and they were changes you wanted to make for next weeks game. Pettard???

i think guys like sylvia, rivers and beemer are still in our current best 22.

I think the message to "take the game on" on all accounts somtimes gets over done and results with blokes being reckless and making poor decisions!

You can see it with Jones quite often - rather than give the easy pass, he'll tuck the ball under his arm and take on a player and get pinned holding the ball etc. Im sure at times he just feels like hes doing what the coach askes of him!

If we are going to win a premership in 2013-2014, we need better leaders with more intensity and more very good players with the same. Grimes and Frawley are part of my "leaders" equation. The rest are part of my "very good players" equation (there are others). I wasn't taking about next week.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
