The Emblem

Recommended Posts

Without saying too much, I have seen it and had the privilege of Cameron explaining each aspect of it to me. From the colour through to the branding, it is simply superb. I would go as far as to say most other clubs will copy our idea and re-brand similarly.

Am I missing something here? They want to keep it under wraps for now, and yet, it seems, half the members on this forum have already seen it, and it's even been trundled out at a breakfast function!

Maybe I'm just jealous...!

Vagg I would give you a description, but it wouldn't do it justice and I don't want to pizz Schwabby off. I know he reads this forum, maybe he will share it? Otherwise ask him to put it up as a twitpic from his sight.

Worth asking him I reckon.

Is it worthy of a tattoo? I have never had one before. But i would be proud to carry our emblem if i knew it was the Emblem of the Future & Beyond.

I hate it when logo's are changed or updated-The organization becomes diluted (unless of course the previous design was terrible)

This new emblem i hope is to be used for 100's of years, at least that should be the guidlines.

It has a lot ivolved in it. Not sure if you want it tattooed. I have an MFC tatt though and encourage you to go for it.

Redleg, now you're toying with me! How would an old Fart like me know how to ask someone to show me something on their Twit?? Maybe he could just flash it up on his fancy whiteboard next week...?

(Yeah. I know. I'm hopeless...! LOL)

Sweet i will keep your words in mind. A Tattoo looks crap if it is too involved-plus i would want to give our new emblem the justice it deserves.

Maybe a Poster in the loungeroom will suffice!!

Mate if you are thinking of tatts..Personally I would look at the 1933 Logo design. you can have a look here http://www.designvic.com/Knowledge/CaseStudies/melbournefc.aspx .

It's not what I have, but I am thinking about it for next time. I have a sailor Jerry traditional tatt with teh Words "This Heart Beats True" in a sroll across an anchor. I like my old school sailor tatts. But if I were getting a demon tatt, that'd be the one.

Cool That 1933 design was part of the Footy cards in Twistie Packets back in the late 1960's.

A classic design indeed, before the "China man" design of the 70's.

I am at work now, but i shall bookmark that page as a good piece of history....

Somehow I don't think Cam Schwab is going to think it's a good idea to conduct the grand unveiling of the Club's new emblem months in advance on his Twitter account.

If we make the reasonable assumption that we won't be re-branding the club mid-season, if for no other reason than I'd be willing to bet AFL guidelines prohibit such a thing, then I would suggest we won't get our new emblem until sometime in the off-season.

A point I made earlier ID. But thanks for throwing it out there again. If you read what I said, I said it was unlikely taht he would throw it up, but it was worth asking the question. Cheer up mate!!

I thought i heard somewhere that current AFL Club Logos / Emblems must be valid for a minimum of 2-3 years. This is fair enough to allow continuity for merchandise, media etc.

That being said we are allowed to re-brand from next year which to me suggests that it will be released towards the end of the footy season (quite possibly as mentioned before around the time we move into AAMI Park) as the club will need to have a few months leeway to prepare new membership packages, merchandise, signage, club stationary and multimedia outlets all with the new emblem (and from what i heard possibly a new apparel supplier as well)

Are you suggesting Reebok are being dumped? Does this have anything to do with the dye problems they seem to be having in creating our jumpers?

Not suggesting that at all, i just heard that there may be a new apparel sponsor for next year. Treat this as nothing more than what it is .. scuttlebutt...

We have the only Team song that doesn't mention, the name of the club or mascot. May be a new chours. I am a purist however if you want to take our team to bigger markets the team song should mention the team.

Melbourne The team of the red and the blue

Geelong We are Geelong

Collingwood God old Collingwood

Fremantle We Are The Freo Dockers

W/ Bulldogs Bulldogs through and through

St Kilda Oh' went the saint

Carlton We’re the only team old Carlton knows,

Sydney Swans will go in and win overall

Port Adelaide Come on, Port Adelaide aggression

Essendon See the Bombers fly up

Brisbane Go Lions, Brisbane Lions

North Melbourne Good old North Melbourne

Hawthorn We're a happy team at Hawthorn

West Coast We're the Eagles

Adelaide We're the mighty Adelaide Crows

Richmond For we're from Tigerland.

Hi High Tower, I was - that's an army of one! But it was presented at the end of the gathering and people were soon off to get on with the day's work so there wasn't much time to garner other peoples opinions.

I don't want to start describing it because I think the people who've put the work into it deserve to plan when and how they launch it for maximum impact. Once they launch and explain the story behind the emblem I'd be astounded if fellow members and supporters weren't impressed and proud of it.

Cheers

The emblem

I'm watching "Whiteboard Wednesday 11" and here are a couple lines from Schwabby about the Emblem.

"I learnt a lot by going to clubs like Barcelona, Liverpool and Everton and how rich those sorts of things are"

"The look and feel that we have for our club will be quite different to what most clubs have at this stage"

"So far the response has been fantastic it will be a little tad controversial but people will understand where we are coming from"

Reebok are being replaced by New Balance from 2011 onwards as our major apparel supplier.

Looks as though our new emblem might involve a flag and shield. Thats based on the soccer emblems ive looked at. Collingwood already do something similiar!

Maybe its the pic of Aussie celebrating his goal agianst Freo! Ha Ha!

Sounds like another positive step forward from a management team that is without question the best our club has had for decades, and without them we might all have had to choose another club or give football away. Thank you will never be enough for Jimmy, et al. I carn't wait to see the new emblem :)

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
