Every Friday morning Peter Keenan gives his footy tips on ABC radio. In the past he has been a serial critic of his former club, always talking up his beloved North Melbourne. I noticed in the last couple of weeks he has changed his tone. this morning it was, "Melbourne, the team I played eight years for".

Hear that? Listen a little closer. Now you have got it!

It is the sound of those climbing out of the woodworks and jumping on the back of a once very light bandwagon.

We might need to get those brakes serviced, something tells me this bandwagon is going to start getting a tad heavy over the next few years.

I welcome them with open arms, provided they sign up and stay regardless of the outcome.

Can't blame a man for only kissing an arse when it's clean.

Ewwwww...

Yes, he's not doing his dignity any good. But if our current resurgence brings all the past players back to the club, and gets the media tone back towards proper respect, that's fine.

Especially if we can shape the way people 're-imagine' the club in the same way we've reaffirmed our heritage within the club.

Side note, I watched the Freo-Pies game last night and some Freo player or other was running around in the number 31, and I saw the number and was instinctively excited. Doesn't take long for a symbol to mean something new!

Joke of a human being that bloke. I'd make the switch to SEN if I were you.

I have known Peter for 30 years and he is a nice bloke with a real soft spot for the Dees. That is pretty rough.

Agree. I have heard that about Keenan. People like the OP need to develop a thicker skin. FWIW, MFC has deserved much of the criticism in the past.

Gee people have short memories of someone I joined a standing ovation for, as he limped around the boundary line only to hear him coating us with s@#$t every chance he could for the next 25 years.

An urger and a bully doesnt come suddenly clean just because he is funny.

Can remember him coming out of retirement for a few games to help out the seconds when we were chronically short of fit players. Wore number 60 with his fat guts hanging out the bottom. Still busted his arse trying to help out the young kids. You don't do that sort of thing if you don't care about the club.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
