Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I noticed we were upto 10 pages so I clicked on thinking someone had posted insightful, interesting and worth the wait information on our super talented tadpole. Alas, just more of the same. I reckon everyone should take a moment to think before they type and see if we can't just write stuff that's useful and interesting to the forum. Of course we can all revert to just typing away whatever comes to our minds a bit like I'm doing now.

Today at school football my coach (who is the assistant coach of Casey scorpions) said that Jack Watts was about 2-3 weeks from playing for Melbourne, he also said that he dropped about 20 chest marks against Gold coast. :)

Just thought I would let you all know.

This isnt the 60,s

A player in this era who keeps marking on his chest will get dragged

The whole point of marking the ball with your arms extended in front of you reduces the chance for your oponent to spoil from behind

Yeah, I was not having a go at the kid, I was just saying what my coach said to when one of my team mates asked how Jack Watts was going. Just becauase it is not the 60's does not mean players don't mark with their chests. Gezzus

I saw him against Geelong a few weeks ago and thought he looked good. Took some good grabs on the lead, did some classy things around the ground, Set up a couple of goals. He just needs to work on his intensity around the ball and go a bit harder sometimes. Everyone needs to take a chill pill!

I think they might still teach kids to take chest marks when your in School.

On another note however........

HOW THE FU*K IS THIS STILL GOING????????????

Wasnt being critical of your post

Just pointing out that kids these days are not as good taking a chest mark when its not an ideal thing to do in match conditions

Fair enough, sorry I took it the wrong way, I suppose Jack just had an off day.

I know how you feel but IMO it's worth us all following his progress. It's the unrelenting "play him now" vs "don't play him yet" ping pong that makes me want to bang my head! banghead.gif

Indeed. Except I got a mention, and I don't know why:

You lied to me, Rogue!

yes he dropped a number against north ballaratt as well, and those that weretaken were often juggled.

By the way, even though I've seen JW playat Casey two or three times, I'm yet to see him take an overhead mark. Does anyone know whether this was one of his strengths as a junior and does anyone know why he does not seem to do so now?

Or have I missed something?

Saw him take one last year and goal from it too. You can look it up, it was his first goal for the club.

If that's true then obviously it's not great that he's dropping those marks, however, what it does tell us is that he's getting into position to take them. For a CHF that means he's working bloody hard to get into the right position to receive it, we know he's a talented young kid and if his efforts match then we have a great player on our hands.

If true then I see this post as being incredibly positive.

Edit, to answer a previous query, JW's overhead contested marking is extremely good. At U18 level it was considered elite

Named at CHF for Casey this week, normally named on the wing, so it will be interesting to see of this is a change in what position he will be playing, or merely the team has been written up differently.

Okay here is a Idea that might help provide a insight into where Watts is at

As he is not playing for the Melbourne Football Club today

Could someone, anyone, please post a report on young Jacks performance this weekend while playing for Casey

We need some first hand information and the view point of a Melbourne supporter or more as to how he performs and where they think he is at

Any Volunteers??????

You can check his progress through the below link, KC from Casey does a fantastic job reporting from Casey.

Side note, Wonna in the extended interchange, good signs all round & to see Watts at CHF is a positive step forward for the young man, a several weeks playing CHF will give him confidence when his is included into the seniors... when the time comes.

ABC have just dissected Jack during half time. Parkin convinced he has application issues off the field, saying he works hard enough on ground, but his approach to training, gym work and recovery isn't up to the level required.

Given Parkin noted that he's an 'outsider looking in', I'd love to know what he bases his opinion on.

They also discussed whether it would be better to play him in AFL and make him want to apply himself in the other areas or leave him at Casey until he strings a couple of good games together. I think it was Gerard who said that he had played golf with some Melbourne people and he said that there skeletal issues - his weight mass not keeping up with his growth. There are obviously issues there that we are not privy to and I hate all the talk about Jack Watts in the media every time a Melburne official is interviewed. What pressure will he be under when he finally does play this year.

I dearly hope he doesn't play nxt week for the young lads sake....as the media will have a field day and un fairly compare him n nic (overrated mophead)naitanui....rather i hope he returns the week after against port in darwin to ease him gently back in the side n then get him ready to burst onto the scene and tear the filth apart on queens bday!

Go dees

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
