One word, PERCENTAGE !!!

From what I've just read, it was from misconduct at their team hotel, and Connors got suspended for eight weeks.

Cousins only got one.

Not at all!! tHE WORST THING WE CAN DO IS GO INTO THIS GAME THINKING IT IS JUST GOING TO HAPPEN. You cannot take any side lightly. Get ahead of yourself or begin to believe you are better than what you are and you can be beaten by any side. Don't get carried away.

Yeah, but we're playing Richmond.

You have to remember that Richmond probably regard us as one of the few beatable teams they will face. They are going to throw everything at us to get themselves up off the bottom of the ladder for a while. I expect them to hit us hard early on and put a lot of man-on-man pressure on the team. It will be very much like what we did to Collingwood.

And 2 weeks ago Collingwood supporters were saying..yeah but its Melbourne..we will smash 'em. Easy! Then what happened? Don't get cocky after one win. FWIW i think we will win and by a healthy amount but play it down fellas. Seriously

eth... hahah thanks for the laugh man! Appreciate it B)

Who was it that said if this site was a person it would have multiple personalities? So true; During the first half against the Crows, I was contemplating how I was going to survive the next couple of months without following my beloved dees- as I deeply felt supporting them was doing me more harm health wise than good- but look what a win does! Medicine for the team and the supporter base!

All of a sudden stuff is looking up. It is folly to suggest any team be percentage booster for us currently, but this one should be in the bag. When was the last time we could say that? Lifes good again!! B)

Woah woah woah...take a chill-pill. If you refer to the OP you will find that I never said we should take them lightly, just that it might make our task a bit easier. If you consider that Cousins, and to a much lesser extent Dean Polo, are talented players it means that we have two less concerns in terms of matchups, hence why our task may become easier. We certainly can't afford to be arrogant...yet.

Cousins out is a boost as are the others to a degree, but not massively. Richmond's problems is not that they are out of players but that each week they field 10 or so who are lucky to be getting a game (I'd say we field about 1-3 each week at the dees this year). The 10 or so guys who are up to AFL (Newman, Deledio, Cousins, Martin etc.) are some very good players, but aren't exactly a mature and star studded group like Geelong or StKilda's top 10 and can't cover the others. The same thing happens with our senior players - Davey, Moloney, Green, McDonald not being able to cover our deficiencies at times, but as pretty much everyone who has got a game has contributed in the last 2 weeks we've looked the goods. If everyone runs hard, tackles hard and plays for the team then I expect a solid win, but anything could happen if they don't.

Hang in there 'nostradeemus', Your team needs you, & this board needs your humble & humerous input.

Too many here are a little precious & want to lash out at other people whom are just trying to help.

I for one appreciate your open opinions & non attacking ways.

You do realise none of us will be playing on the weekend, eh? What we posters think or do will have absolutely no influence on how we play this weekend. Still you are right - no side coming off back to back spoons can afford to treat any game lightly and I'm sure the coaches and players will be well aware of that.

don't think balls was directing it at you- what he says makes sense. What you say also makes sense. This is a good thread.

Fair enough. I'm of the internet generation (only 21) where capitals equate to SCREAMING! I need to get away from my PC.

I hope you never get a job coaching a footy side.

You could be very wrong. In most ways this is a harder match than the previous two; we've gone from having nothing to lose to having quite a lot to lose, especially pride, confidence and a sense of progress. A loss, or even a very narrow win, might set us back. I loathe this sort of attitude - it's probably what the Pies and their supporters were thinking after round 1. They scraped home luckily and suffered a morale sapping loss and let-down the next week.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
