the stats looks good. Being at the game today, he was even better. great pressure, surprising pace, he was very good for his (effectively) first game after 2 minutes of footy last year. Definitely deserves a call up next week.

doesn't look much, but we will wait and see.

So great to see Rohan have a good game today. Really great bloke. Hope that last kick doesn't weigh on him too much.

what a game for a guy playing his first full game, i was very impressed. As for the last kick it hit the target, unfortunately there was just enough collingwood pressure to spoil Ricky.

i loved what i saw with this kid

rohan, jordie, tom and jack played so well together i just loved it.

i saw jack get a bit rough and was giving the pies player and good hit and then jones came over to help and i thought about time these young kids had a good crack and played dirty

Agree. He has a chance to show what he can do.

And he did. Nice game Rohan, you can build on that.

Reality check needed. Scully/Trengove will be superstars, Bail could be a very handy player for us.

Tell that analogy to Ricky Petterd.

Or Mark Jamar.........

I was extremely worried about this guy before the season. I hope he continues to prove me wrong. He was excellent today.

Remember seeing him play at Optus Oval in the '09 pre-season and he immediately struck me as a player. Proved it today.

Well done mate. Many games for the MFC to come I'm sure.

What his stats don't show was his hardness at the contest. Loved it. Strong lad.

Agree they should have a rating out of ten how tough their nuggets are, i would give RB 9 nuggets today!! & 10 for a group effort.

Great game Rohan-Hold your head up you rocked-Follow it up next week mate.

You can play top level. B)

would be great if he can string a few like yesterday together...Mckenzie, Bail, Grimes, Trenners, Sculls, Gys, Blease, all running through the middle and delivering is starting to sound like a great core! Good on you Bails...

Even more impressed with him now, having seen the replay.

Terrific courage and was really taking it up to his opponent. Quite clever in close too, giving off some very nice handballs to release a teammate.

Only disposal by foot is going to keep him from making it at AFL level IMO, so if he can improve that, he should become a very handy player for us.

Well done Rohan and i would also like to say thank you as well, because I'm in the cheer squad and had you as my first goal kicker and won $20.00 so thanks :)

I was thinking when he kicked that what the odds would have been.. Inspired choice.. name plucked out of the hat or you have flash forwards?

Rohan Bail = Nathan "Brown Dog" Brown Mach2?

This would be a good thing.

Add some polish to Brown dogs lesser points (hitting a target) and you have yourself a solid 200 gamer that can beat opponents without the flashy fanfare of an afl superstar.

Interesting point. He does drop the ball (when kicking) a little awkwardly - on its point?, but his final kick of the game, to Petterd, was none preferred (left side) and precise.

Watching a reply of the game. Final quarter - Bail is on fire. Just set up the Green and Dunn goals. This kid is bloody good.

ALSO just watched replay- dead set GOER. Fture here for sure- could be very versatile- back pocket/flank,run with player, wingf or half forward flank-Great debut-- do not count last match last season as a game.Could be a BEAUTY.

Played well when required. Has a bit of toe on him too.

He did the right thing with the kick in the last quarter. Its just a pity muffed the one where he was running to inside 50 and had Green with the best position to take a good pass. Unfortunately the kick did not capitalise on Green's opportunity.

I really rated Bail's performance on the W/E and will be keeping an eagle eye out for him next week against the loops.

The ball just didn't come back to him on the bounce which stuffed him up. Was so unfortunate because if the ball came straight back to him he could have kicked a goal from 40 or dished off to Green with the odds of getting a goal very good.

But he has good size, good speed, runs hard. Skills might not be magnificent but looks to have skills that can make it at AFL if he excels in something.

Not sure what his best position will be - half back, wing, forward. Can't believe he was playing VFL 2's last year - I think off field family circumstances must have taken an effect. Will certainly keep the selectors honest this year.

Just watched the first 3 quarters again on TV and was thrilled at the intensity he showed to the contest. He attacked the ball in a ferocious manner and it was great to see. He has a good physique and is clearly prepared to hit hard. His defensive efforts were also good. This kid has a chance to succeed if he continues to put in.

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?
