on the website he's only listed as weighing 91kg...considering his size i would have gussed he weighs over 100kg

i would think 91kg would be a tad small to contain the real monster forwards in one-on-one wrestles

It would be great if we could be notified by, such as the melbournefc website, of any growth in particular weight and height. This has been one of my beefs for years.

That to me would be an example of wasting resources to publish micro-information that is of no real importance.

If I were to get a jumper and a number it would be 8, 20 or 12.... but I won't as I am over 25.

Wear it at home, it'll feel good.

That's a very obtuse view.

I would have thought adding detail on players, including interviews allowing us to get to know them can only help with keeping the fans' interests. We all love a stat, even if we're not prepared to admit it, and there are worse places to start when comparing to an oppositions' 22 than the players' height and weight. It's all a bit of fun, isn't it?

My problem would be the reliability of the stats. I remember Neitz was 191-195cm depending on where you read the info.

Well it would be important to me,micro information leads to macro -information which leads to total information.Having the changes in height and weight allows one to see the progress and development. It is not like a computer which I believe you are an expert in.This is just common sense and logic.

I saw a photo of Frawley next to Lynden Dunn recently (community camp?) and frawley was a good inch taller than him.

This confirms information that Frawley is now around 195-196cm (Dunn drafted at 192cm). Wouldn't be surprised if he was around 100kg or closing in.

He has great speed, great overhead mark, good spoil and solid skills. Was a very clever pick 12. Went for needs and paid off imo. Frawley has shown great signs of 'making it' since his very first game when he grabbed the ball 40m out from goal and dashed away rebounding from defence showing great pace and agility.

Great point re Fawley's weight and height. But wouldn't it be great to know definately that this is fact rather than guessing a little. And re Dappa's point re Neita, whilst true, I wonder if clubs use this as a tactic to throw other clubs re match up's etc..

I'm with you on this. It really isn't that important.

They update it start of the year and that should be good enough. No need to annoy MFC about updating everytime James Frawley eats a piece of cake.

Or when they have eggs benedict with two rashers of bacon once every two months. I agree.

I'm flabbergasted that some people can actually think it is important.

To what end?

It's called fun.

well if we don't have these details, it's just a list of names

it gives you an extra perspective on players' traits, strengths and weaknesses

I dont think the vast majority of MFC or AFL fans realize just how good Frawley is, and how good he will be.

He will be a superstar, and a perennial All Australian selection.

Not so sure about height. Saw him today after the intra-club, would say 195cm max, possibly less... he wasn't a heap taller than me (190-191cm).

Big, self-serving, up-itself bump.

Saw Hutchy on Footy CLassified last night say that Frawley is an absolute certainty for All Australian.

I'm making an early call on young chip.

All Australian 2010.

5 rising star nods, and the eventual winner in Strauss.

HA! The first part was right.

NO DAPPA- I will say YOU TOLD US SO

Could happen... :D

Done well here Dappa.

Demonland prediction of the year!

I predicted he'd be AA in 2010 last season - what do I win?

Yep.

Just out of interest. When you say you predicted it, was it off the cuff? I predict half a dozen Red + Blue AAs every year. In this case though I felt it was necessary to start a thread. You know. For posterity, and because clearly I'm a bit up myself.

Someone has to fill the void since Y_M got booted.

Nope. Just chip.

It might sound stupid, but I'd seen enough in him midway through last year to be 100% confident he'd make AA this year or next.

There's not many I'd be able to say that about with so much confidence.

I think Trengove & Watts should.

Scully I've seen enough of. Dead cert.

Maybe 4 or more years off it though.

Posted

Hmm. I'd say Trengove it's only a matter of time. I would say earliest 2012. But certainly before 2015. Watts we're going to have to wait a number of years. Scully... I may have to beat you to the punch here and say 2011. MAYBE.

Also. Grimes, had he not gotten injured, would be in the squad this year and will be knocking on the door every year for the next 5-8, injury permitting.

Posted

Hard to say with the midfielders. I think they need performances in the bank.

There are so many excellent mids competing for thos spots, this year someone like Boyd or Hayes will miss out cos not all can fit.

Even having said all the above, I think Frawley is in certain AA form, but he may not get picked because he is seen as having time on his side and there are a lot of other decent options.

It wouldn't be right, but I can easily see it happening (I mean, come on, KB is on the selection committee!)

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
