Is Robbo worth a re-look

Given Ball's reluctance, Russell Robertson is almost the bestleft in the PSD. We may even pick him up as a rookie!!!

Given we will have next year a very in-experienced, but potentially brilliant forward set up, an experienced head like Robbo could well make the difference between mid ladder and finals next year. I know he will not be around any more than a couple of years, but he would have to be better than an injury riddled Smith, and a mediocre mid fielder like Tivendale.

Thoughts?

short answer...no

the idea is to put games into kids... nothing gained by re-employing Robbo.

Theres a longer term strategy in place than the next season or two.

No

NO

To suggest otherwise is an indictment on your intelligence.

Sorry, but it is.

We really are running out of things to post when we bring up Robbo, about as much chance as getting redrafted by us as Neitz.

Draft day can't come quick enough

Can we move beyond the "must take an experienced footballer in the PSD" mindset?

And Robbo???

Next it will be Nathan Carroll because he is tough and good in a brawl.

Is that you Robbo ( Flag in 2014 ) ??

The best available player is not Robbo, but Daniel Bradshaw.

I hope the club seriously has a look at Bradshaw, even though he wants to play in Sydney. We are in pole position so lets make the most out of it!

We could do with a 60 goal per year forward ;)

I hope we dont...what is the point in bringing on board a bloke who will be gone by time next window opens in 3-4 years..?? what... ?? nothing to be gained. better another 40 odd games into a kid..or under 25 year old pickup !!

Robbo would find a good fit at Carlton ATM. He would be reunited with a number of former team mates, a couple of former Demon supporters and even his ex-coach in Mark Riley. He'd be good for 40 or 50 goals as a third forward and given them a goal kicking option in the absence of Fev. He would also be welcome back on The Footy Show in Fev's seat. Give him the famous # 25 I say!

KICK IT LONG!

I'm sick of losing and accepting mediocrity - I want to win now!

blah blah blah, noise, etc.

(fwiw it's worth, BB, I'm agreeing with you by using sarcastic remarks. Just making that clear.)

Get rid of him.

I never want to see him in the media ever again.

Sick of him.

He isn't worth a re-look, the reasons for letting him go have not changed and I don't understand the desperation some posters have with regards to the PSD. Nobody is pointing a gun to our heads and saying you MUST pick a PSD player. The club will weigh up it's options and if it beleives it is better served using ND pick 34 (or 50 if we lose another player) instead of PSD 1 then be it.

Trust the club.

yep...perfect...now can we move on and not have any more bring back Robbo threads....please.... prettty pleeeeeease

Ross Funcke? Luke Molan? I'd only consider Robbo as a second rookie pick, save the first for a youngster

All signs and logic point to a complete no but I've always liked Bradshaw so I'll make a case for him.

Bradshaw is a genuine tall and will serve a role Robbo can't.

Bradshaw can hold up KPP and becomes the primary focus and lets Watts game develop as he plays High Forward, Gives Jurrah the chop out too.

Provide experience/ coach for our young KPP. he can provide protection for the young forward line but he's not just an enforcer, he can hurt teams on the scoreboard.

Sure he is not going to be around in 3 years time but will Brad Miller.

Miller is a stop gap or a night watchman who'll get games nxt year while our young KPP matures. So why not get a player who can actually 'really' play.

Money wise, reportedly 3 years 1million. 3 years is a bit stiff but 333K a year is more then fair for Bradshaw's talents.

Body wise. Dunno but Sydney and Carlton are confident in giving him 3 years. HS mentioned, Carlton were surprised his body was in such good nick when he did the medical.

Yes of course -he is the second most fittest recent ex Melbourne person around -even he acknowledges it and both of them were taken out unfairly. Both can play heaps good songs on the guitar.

Bradshaw always played very well whenever we played Brisbane so he would be the one to seriously consider out of the recycled players.

He still has 3 years in him if he stays close to goal, & does know how to play in defence. Depends on the MFC FD though. I will trust their judgement as we have all been through the pain.

But i believe we do need a "General" in the forward line to lead the kids, whoever that might be (Brad Green is the logical answer if we don't recruit outside.)

Bring on Bloody Draft Day soon

I personally don't want Bradshaw, clogging up MFC young list for 3 years.

Flag in 2014 - Why do you want to relive history so desparately?

The Daniher Era Was So Competitive In Finals.

And Bring Back Robbo, are classic songs loved by those who don't want to move on, and would prefer to cling to a bygone era.

And Hughes is our mature rookie if the last list lodgement is to be believed.

I'd take Robbo in a heart beat.

...and dump him in the outback somewhere.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
