Robbo to the Blues?

I was glad to hear Bradshaw chose Sydney over Carlton because I knew it opened the door ever so slightly for Robbo. I would love to see him go on...

With a full pre-season, and the improved delivery he'd get at Carlton, I see no reason why he couldn't kick 40-50 goals.

He only played 13 games this season, after overcoming a serious injury, and he still managed to lead the club goal kicking.

With the exception of maybe Waite, Carlton have very little to work with... why wouldn't they take a punt on a proven goal kicker?

Bloody hell! The way things are going Carlton round 1 2011 will have Brock, Robbo, CJ, Buckley and probably Newton, PJ, Miller and Zomer as well. If we can just talk them into taking Derryn Hinch I might even forgive them for Barassi.

It would really be hard for me to see robbo in a carlton jumper!

Realistically, I think it will be hard to see Robbo in ANY other jumper... But the boy has still got a bit left to give, and i really do hope they give him a crack. We'll watch him and probably cheer for him, except of course when he's playing for the Dees...

I agree. I've thought Carlton should have a crack at him since they dumped Fev.

The article describes Carlton's forwardline as "a highly unpredictable Carlton attack". That should read "most shambolic forwardline ever assembled". Robbo is not a long term move, but he is the only move if they want to play in the finals in 2010. He will be their only legitimate goalkicking forward.

I think they will have to look at other options bsides Robbo. If Carlton take him, Robbo wont go close to even partially filling the void left by Fev.

They would want to develop Lachie Henderson up real fast. Throw a defender forward....Waite?

Judd was a key recruit for Carlton but he came at a high price. One of the items was Josh Kennedy.

Carltons attempt to cover up the gap left by Fevola was foiled by none other than Rodney Eade.

IMHO Carlton beleived they would cover Fevola's loss by slotting Waite in at FF, and recruiting Andrejs Everitt to take over Waites current - tall/agile rebounding defender.

It is no suprise they are looking to recruit Simon Buckley and Crows discard Aaron Kite (who was taken as a very bottom aged Victorian boy in 2007) to cover Waites role, as a tall'ish rebounding defender.

From what I gather...

They have big wraps on Henderson for up forward. He is a mate of Kreuzer's.

With regard to Robbo, he has apparently been training with the Storm at VISY park under the Blue's watchful eyes. Buckley might enter the ND if they are keen on him, leaving Robbo for the PSD.

According to the Blues, Bradshaw has some disc problems in his back and is some risk with some other niggles, whereas Robbo apart from his achilles injury last year, is a clean bill of health.

edit: - Of course their opinion of Bradshaw would have changed when Bradshaw chose the Swannies.

I think Robbo will get picked up, probably by the Blues but if not someone else.

I know people on this site disagree with me, but Robbo was let go too young and too early. He still kicks alot of goals. He came off a major 12 month injury with no preseason and kick at 2.5 goals per game with terrible delivery in the worst team in the comp. If he plays all season for a good team he will kick 50 goals.

Wonder if they might have a name change to the Carlton Scorpions ... just make a few of the boys feel at home.

 I enjoyed that one - it'll be quite hilarious if they pick up CJ Buckley and Robbo in consecutive years.

I remember them going off about that youtube video of CJ's "best matches" ever where he got about 30 touches - too bad for them they didn't notice that about 28 didn't hit a target.

50 might be a stretch but you are correct - I wish him all the best

Yeah was at a luncheon on Saturday for Cox Plate with a few Carlton mates ... its hilarious the "rubbish" coming out of their mouths.

As HT said (now I think it was HT) - Bradshaw was going to be the solution before they got him ... a dud after the found out they missed out.

However, must confess the penny is starting to drop for a few others.

One even suggested "Ratten better get this right" ... otherwise ;)

im still dirty Robbo didnt get another year on his contract and brad miller did, i thought robbo would of been great with young boys up forward.

Hope carlton let him have another crack at afl footy. hopefully the gold coast want brads services in 2011 because hes been given a fair run for the

lack of ability he has....

I'm still dirty Robbo didn't pass to a red hot Sylvia, wide open, 30 metres out against Hawthorn. Instead had a shot from 50 near the boundary.

Oh, in that game I counted 5 times he did not chase when he easily could and should have. 1 time when he may have been pretending to be injured or taking one of his regular grass naps instead of chasing the ball. And this was only up my end, and the only game and examples of terrible team play I'll bother to give.

Good for the young boys? BS. Good for junktime goals and highlight/lowlights. Go to Carlton, please.

This is typical HUN sensationalism. The journalist asked the Carlton guy (Icke?) if there was a chance they would look at Roberston, and he didn't say 'no', which the journalist constured to mean 'yes'.

If Carlton think Robertson is the answer to their forward line problems they've got rocks in their head. If I was a Carlton supporter I'd want Henderson and Kreuzer playing at FF and CHF respectively, with Walker, Betts and Garlett supporting. Hampson and Warnock to ruck.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
