why not all of our offices? Is there a social club there? No more junction oval? Blitz!

We hear a lot of promises about our future home - but nothing tangible.

I'd like to see Bubbledome/Olympic Park plans with our name on it - and I'd like to see plans at Casey with our name on it.. And then there is the redevelopment of the Southern Stand at the G.When's that happening - and is that prospect going to be used to explain more temporary accommodation?

These concepts have been bandied around for a long time now - the concepts were developed by the previous committee.Yet our pre-season is at the Junction Oval yet again.

Carlton showed Bradshaw, Brock and Co a half finished gym. What will we show Luke Ball?

As I've asked on another thread why aren't we promoting the Red & Blue Foundation to fund the equipment our new gyms are going to require?

I'll be very disappointed if we don't get some firm information in the Annual Report.

The reason we are training at the Junction oval Is because both our training facilities are currently being built. If you go down to Casey you'll see a mass of construction and same with the Bubble dome. Both will be ready for next season and both will be state of the art compared to the Junction. So you ask what we'll show Luke Ball? We'll show him a construction zone just like Carlton showed Bradshaw.

Clearly I am aware that there's spectacular bricks and mortar at the Bubble dome - my question is how much of that space is being set aside for the MFC ? - and what right of access will we have to the shared facilities behind the other tenants?

Will we be able to say to Luke - "that is going to be our gym - we will have 30 sets of weights in it - our medical rooms will adjoin the gym over there - we''ll just have to run down there to get to our oval etc" The oval will be available to us 4 afternoons per week or .... ?

Good to hear that the buildings at Casey are progressing

I really like your idea and post about the Red & Blue Foundation. Is there anyway that you can bring this forward to the MFC? Maybe they are waiting for the new developments to be built.

I really hope we clear our debt this year. Once our debt is clear I think we will be pushing the comp as the most marketable teams in the comp baring GC and GWS. Everyone of my mates are talking about Melbournes young list, Jim Stynes battle and hoping he gets through. ATM i think we are becoming the buzz team. Must make the most of it or at least get out of our debt

I actually have some plans of the MRS in my possession which clearly show areas set aside for MFC.

Change rooms, gym, pool area, recovery, etc.

I've been on site too and right now it won't quite be at the stage where its worth having a walk through because none of the fit-out has been done yet.

It will be an elite facility.

Same with the work that will be done to upgrade Gosch's Paddock.

Other than the location there's not much to see yet.

Thankyou ...great to hear.

Do you know how many others will use Gosch's paddock?

No, I've got no information on the time sharing of any of the facilities.

I just have the drawings showing the areas specifically designated for the MFC, also the areas for the other tenants, the Storm, Victory, etc.

Appreciate your help

Your proof that we have so many designated facilities has overome my scepticism ( You get that way as a Melbourne supporter!)

Sounds great

No problem.

From talking to a friend who works for MOPT yesterday she also said our entire football dept would be housed at MRS and the only admin at MCG would be for things like Membership, merchandising, etc

ie. Arms of the club where a 5 minute walk from where the players are won't be a major issue.

The Red & Blue Foundation was actually put in place by the previous committee so the club is aware of it. It is on the website. I have just been surprised that it hasn't been promoted more aggressively.

The only reason I can think of is that equipment is such a small part of the overall budget that a strong R&B Foundation campaign is not worth the effort.

That would surprise me given that we sell home games for amounts like to $200k -$300k

It also shows the supporters some imagination - which is good for the image.

If enough people respond positively to the R&B Foundation thread... the club will surely increase its profile

Has "Melbourne Heart" got anything to do with the new facilities at "BubbleDome" ?

Can't remember off the top of my head and I don't have the plans on me at the moment.

I don't think so specifically, but there are some non-specified or vague areas on there.

Its actually quite a large facility and I remember there is space set aside for a Union team and i think also for hockey.

With MFC's admin there we are certainly the major tenant.

We take up about a quarter of the space there. It will mostly be on the side facing Swan St

And the MRS has been affectionately name the "missus" by a few involved with it.

...because it takes a long time to get ready?

Or because it soaks up alot of hard earned?

Or because it wears bloody strange things on top around Spring Carnival time?

Yeah, I know, I'm such a guy.

Why are you taking on a new persona?

Pretty sure the last yew months your posts have turned from a decent read (although patronizing), to just crap where you try to be funny, or whatever it is in every post.

Covered this.

Odd mood in the off-season.

Apologies.

Are there plans foe a Social Club, After Match. Restaurant where Supporters, Members & MCC/MFC members can all meet after matches or drop in mid week.

This club has never had that. We need it.

A place to celebrate after a win, or comesurate a loss....

A place with the longest honours board in the AFL...

A place where a stranger to AFL, can learn about the oldest football club in the world...

A place where MFC really means something.....

We need a social club....A place where we belong.

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
