This read really makes me emotional. I hope that Jimmy will pull through this, and I know that he is most likely to, and he is the man that will lead this club to its greatest glories since the '60s, and no sentement will be forgotten on this great ruckman that grabbed the club by the scruff of its neck and dragged it out of its darkest era and in to its new era of greatness. We will love you forever Jimmy.

At times I've probably taken for granted that The Age has devoted a journalist to the Melbourne Football Club this year. It's been terrific to have a yearful of positive media directed at the Dees. Can you imagine the uproar on here if Flanagan had been posted to Collingwood this year? We'd be using the paper as fish and chip wrappers. In an era where we've found it difficult to get our 'brand' out there, it has got to be a huge plus. Who knows exactly what this translates to in terms of supporters gained or public perception, but it's certainly a positive and I'm thankful to The Age for it.

For a dual wooden spoon winner our club has been getting a lot of positive press lately. If there are people at the club pulling these strings they deserve a pat on the back.

I also think it would be nice if he was embedded with us again next year to write about what we hope will be vastly different seasons.

Martin was with us in our dark days, he should stay to see us emerge into the light that we can now see at the end of the tunnel.

He writes about our (hopefully! ;)) positive future, without forgetting our rich history. It's what the Melbourne Football Club is about.

    With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.     The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm.
