Daniel Bell

Forest Demon

Recommended Posts

His name has been mentioned in a couple of articles I have read. Most suggest Carlton are interested, and also heard a rumbling Adelaide had an interest.

Does anyone know anymore about this?

Personally, trying to improve our 2nd or 3rd round pick would be the best outcome. But I think he would most likely go for nothing (i.e. late pick) to free up a spot on the list.

What are peoples opinions on this?

From what I've seen and heard, Carlton are the only club interested in him. I'd be happy to see him go, provided we get something decent in exchange.

what makes you think we'll get something 'decent' for him? a player who's played his last 2 years or so of footy in the twos?

i'll take ANY pick.

I agree, Any pick will do. MFC have to free up the list, any way possible.

Droping players like Bell, in a deal worth nothing. Might save players like Buckley, and give him more years to develop his potental.

Decent for me is anything this side of pick 40, anything after seems like a selection that wont be used.

John Reid from the Crows said they wont be trading away or trading in anyone. The only 1 that might go is Jonathon Griffen who Port might take now that the Burgoyne deal is done.So they wont take Bell

Bell is contracted, so if we can't trade him, he stays.

Buckley on the other hand would be hoping for a trade, because he is every chance of getting the boot.

We have 4 uncontracted players left as far as I know, and if we want to use 5 picks in the ND and 1 PSD pick, plus promote Spencer onto the senior list, we gotta get rid of 3 more players. Buckley is therefore a 1 in 4 chance to stay. Odds are definitely against him.

One of the great mirages on Demonland...Daniel Bell as trade bait for another Club.

If Xavier Clarke pulls pick 60, Bell could get the ton.

But that doesn't really matter, because whatever we trade him for, is a win for us if we're desperate to clear some space on the list.

The ideal situation is to package Bell or Buckley or Bartram etc... with say pick 34 and trade it for pick 30 or pick 32.

A club might be looking for a guy with some pace who can break the line, and moving back a couple of draft spots may seem a small price to pay for them.

With most of the major deals completed (Fevola one pending), I think we'll swoop in tomorrow to try and get something like that done. It could be a win-win situation.

Cant we package Issac Weetra in the deal and make it mouth watering for the other Club.

Daniel Bell cant cut a regular game after seven years in one of the worst sides I have witnessed in 40 years and he is a guy with some pace who can break a line..... but cant hit a target and with suspect decision making.

Only D'landers can source untapped value in a player where there is none.

Mind you the same could be said about Bartram and Buckley as well.

A club with any sense would be better sizing other targets with more upside. If they want any of them they could grab them in the PSD on their terms. Bell is contracted for one more year so they just have to wait 12 months to pick up a bargain.

If you believe the rumours, Carlton are interested in Daniel Bell. That shows you that one club's trash can be another club's treasure.

Bell is hardly the worst player in the AFL. If Clarke can get a second go, so can Bell.

If it happens, great, if it doesn't, no big deal.

We'll definitely try to get something done though. We'd be stupid not to!

As I have said in another thread.....

Fremantle are hovering.... They are seriously contemplating taking Bell and Buckley in return for Pick 4....

Media release will be "We are excited to get these two outstanding players as we believe our premiership window is NOW!" :D

If I believed the rumours then Bell would be at Port for a first rounder.

MFC can try all it likes. I hope it does get through but I am realistic to know its a long long shot. But it isnt a win win for both sides. One side would be doing charity.

Bell isn't that bad. He's had a bad run of injury/form the last 1-2 years, and has become a bit of a whipping boy on here. He was great in 2007, and his game against Adelaide mid 07 was the best defensive game I've ever seen from a Melbourne player. He spoiled and tackled like mad that day. Unfortunately he hasn't come on since then, and we are now faced with list issues. If we can move him on for anything, we should. I cant see him as an integral of our future now with other young talent acquired. We still need to get rid of 2-3 players so we can maximize this draft. I'd trade him for anything. If Carlton are offering anything, even pick 100, we take it, even if we're not going to use it. We cut our losses, and we make room on our list for the coming draft/PSD.

What a Paragraph!! At the Beginning you are giving Belly a Good Rev, reminding of us all that infact he has played this Brutal Sport at the very Highest level, & at times done very well (cool)

But within 3 lines you are accepting a carlton Pick 100 & putting the kid out with the Garbage!! Classic writing

Carlton's pick 43 59 for Daniel Bell & picks 50,66.

It's late and I've been studying :P

My point was he isn't as bad as people make out, but I don't see him as part of our future now. We're struggling with delisting a few more, with the likes of Newton still with a year on their contract. If we can trade players like Bell, Newton, Bartram, even if it's for peanuts, then we should. It's better than just delisting them, as most of them could play AFL footy in other teams, but are now battling more talented high draft picks we've acquired in bulk the last 3 years. Guys like them could still have a career elsewhere, and I'd prefer helping them to achieve that than just delisting them.

I would do that trade, and likely not even use the pick. We need to get rid of 3 more players so we can use all picks up to 34 and PSD1.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
