Hack of a player, and he's injury prone. I'm surprised Brisbane is interested in him.

Gee, the Lions really have been active this week.

At effectively pick 80 does it matter?

They get rid of 4 blokes who they know are hacks and then "punt" on a player who MIGHT give them something and who has not cost them much at all.

yep...thats what its all about ;).. maybe not all hacks but its certainly an opportunity to churn.

The last time clubs invested in a bunch of list cloggers were Carlton in 2004 and St Kilda in 2001 and look how good that turned out for both parties :o

Raines, Staker, Buchanan and X Clarke are all list cloggers.

Imagine if Internet Footy Forums banned the use of the words 'hack' and 'absolute gun'....posts would plummet.

X Clarke can play good footy as a running utility but has been cruelled with injuries which have prevented him from stringing games together. He comes cheap and if he can get fit will give the depth across half back, midfield and half forward. Voss knows that the likes of Brown, Black, Power and Fevola (if they get him) do not have too many years left and is loading up wth recycled experience to try and get a flag before they go. If they pull it off he is a genious. If they don't then it'll be a bit of a struggle as the veterans retire and they miss the young talent they could have added to the list if they hadn't recycled.

Wow. That must be the one of biggest falls from grace....pick 5 in "the" superdraft to pick 60 in a shallow draft.

Anyway did this really need its own thread???

Why not, theres so many threads made that are similair or about the same topic, that are made pic 11, pre season draft, etc etc.

There is a "confirmed trades" thread though....I didnt think a trade as insignificant as this needed its own

So what else would they have done with the draft picks? Let them pass and keep their existing worst four or so on their list who were definitely not AFL standard. Good insight.

Voss will want Buchanan up forward at the feet of Brown & Bradshaw (or Fev), he might be very handy. They obviously know their list well and think they are at their 'window' by these top ups; with the shallow draft, they need players that have played at AFL level, not ones that will be ready in 3-4 years time when Brown is near finished.

Buchy played a similar sort of role for the falcons.

I remember in the TAC Cup grand final before he was drafted he got best on ground, kicking something like 9 or 10 goals, playing as a small forward out of the goal square.

A bit like Gary Ablett Jr when he first started.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
