Andrejs Everitt

Brock gone, Everitt may be closer. Not sure about Burgoyne, he may choose Hawks or Dons where Lovett could be in the deal.

With 4 picks inside 18 pick 18 may be tradeable.

yeah i think a deal will be done regarding Burgoyne in a swap for Lovett. Now that Brock has gone maybe we could offer 11 or 18 for Everitt.1 & 2 on Scully & Trengove Then 11 Everitt & 18 Panos

"Carlton is also understood to be in negotiations for young Bulldog Andrejs Everitt.

"The Blues are believed to be prepared to part with their second-round draft pick (27) for Everitt, an offer the Dogs are believed to be inclined to accept."

If we can convince him to come to us, surely pick 18 would swing the deal with the Dogs?

If Andrejs has the same attitude as his brother I don't want him. I always had a very low opinion of his brother. A bit like Fev, all about himself and came accross as not really caring about his club or other players. Also his brother had massive chips on his shoulder about establishment, wealth and private schools (like Fev). His brother hated the MFC as he saw their supporters as this sort. If Andrejs has this attitude he will clash with the MCC, and the likes of Watt, Blease etc.

I would prefer not to take the risk.

The problem with this is that Andrejs wants to play for Carlton.

I'm sure the Bulldogs would happily take #18 over #27 (I mean .. who wouldnt?)

But the personal financial offer put forth to Andrejs by Carlton has him keen.

He is under contract. If the Bulldogs want Pick 18 from the Dee's and Everitt dont want too budge and stick with Carlton. Then the Dogs can just keep him on there list. No trade!

I would like Everitt but if he wants to go to Carlscum let him. We will smash them on the field! Lets get Alwyn!

Thats all well and good - but the Bulldogs WANT and NEED to trade him off to accomodate Barry Hall.

So it is almost the same scenario as if he were uncontracted.

They should have got rid of Aker. He is hopeless! Got smashed against the Saints. I thought it would have been his time to go. I would rather keep Eagleton than Aker.

Point being the Bulldogs have more expendable players on there list too free up room for Hall.

Take your point,

But Everitt also has issues of run ins with Rocket (along with his buddy Jarrad Grant).

I beleive they re-signed him solely so that they could not lose him for nothing.

ie. they intended to float him around during trade week all along.

I can confirm that Melbourne are definitely keen to get him. Carlton probably the more likely outcome however!

I am really glad to hear this. probably part of the minority though.

It seems it is he who is seeking the trade, desperate to continue his career elsewhere.

Andrejs could slot in as a key defender and realistically release Garland into the forward line. We can't forget also that when we're having a real tilt at the premiership Warnock will quite possibly not be part of the team.

The other upside I see is his capabilities in the ruck. None of our current rucks have the ability to hold down a spot in either the forward or backline alone.

I'm all for it and given the supposed lack of depth in this draft would consider trading Pick 18. Which is probably above market value but what other options do we have?

Everitt would be a great pick up. He is versatile! Can play anywhere in my book. 2nd ruck, midfielder, wingman , backmen, forward.

I would trade Pick 18 in a heartbeat!

And Warnock will still be around for our premiership tilt! I rate him highly.

Why do we want him??

He doesnt suit needs.

I wouldn`t be so certain. This bloke is extremely versatile. He`s a natural winger/half back but actually dominated in the ruck in Round 20 or 21 I believe it was against Fraser I think. He simply has not had a go at the Doggies. He only managed to get a run when players were injured, the get dropped despite playing OK as the injured players returned. Keep in mind, this is a team that came awfully close to a GF this year.

He would easily make our best 22 Round 1 next year if we pick him up!

This is one player I have not seen much of.

Its good to know he can play back line, but im not sure we need any more KPB.

How good is he in the ruck? Would he be better than PJ, Meeson and Spencer in the ruck?

He is young but if he was able to become an A grade ruck as he matures then pick 18 would be a steal.

He sounds like he would be a handy second ruck to Jamar from round 1.

IMHO he hasn't shown that he can play in the backline.

He is best suited to a wing/loose man - where he can use his biggest assets: his run and carry.

One on One - he is terrible as he hasnt got the strength.

In what role could he play? Wingman or Backman. We have a plethora or both. No point. Not even a average player. Done nothing in career as yet.

Update:

3 Horse race atm with Carlton, Melbourne and St Kilda.

Saints looking to offer their 1st round pick.

Carlton offering #27 - however are offering the better monetary terms (suprise suprise) and is tipped to be favourite.

Melbourne in talks with Andrejs Management - possibly Pick #18 on the table.

Everitt is contracted and can't go anywhere unless the Dogs agree.

The Dogs will not take pick 27 for him, when we're willing to give pick 18.

So either Everitt stays with the Dogs, or he goes to the club that gives the Dogs the best deal.

Most footballing journo's agree that Carlton is tipped to land him given that they've already conducted all the leg work.

Contratry to popular beleif, some clubs accept "lesser" offers in order to appease players who may be contracted already, and/or have served the club well.

Everitt fits into category one.

He WILL NOT stay at the Dogs - they are trying to make cap space.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
