Rank these 10 tall forwards (alright some didn't play their entire career fwd but maybe that makes them rate higher) who have recently retired or are getting close ...

Lloyd got half his goals from acting so i wouldn't have him up top.

G Ablett Snr & Dunstall were the best of the "modern" era.

Lloyd - Easily.

Richo - only as a forward. I rate many below as better players.

Hall

Grant

Neitz - Was a better player than a couple of the above, but was a CHF or CHB played out of position for a whole career. Still outdid many on this list. Champion.

Tredrea

Rocca - Hate him, and is a league punch line now, but in his youth was devastating.

O'Loughlin - The old Jurrah. Made his name as a second forward though, which knocks him back down.

Robbo - Love him and all. VERY good player, but only really had a few absolute standout seasons, with a number of good seasons. Opposition coaches would probably not have been scared of him like they were the 8 above him. More concerned.

Lucas - Meh. Hugely over-rated.

In comparing the forwards I looked not just at their ability but the ability of those around them, hence both Richo and Grant are above Lloyd, who has benefited from superb delivery for most of his career, something that can't be said of the others. Lucas was never that great, just a good forward in a mostly great team. Whilst I can understand those who have Lloyd at the top I'm not sure how one puts daylight between them.

Richo

Grant

Bit hard cos Grant and Neitz played a number of positions over the years, but as forwards I would go

Richardson

Lloyd

Tredrea (as much as I hate him)

Grant

Neitz

Lucas

O'Loughlin

Hall

Robertson

Rocca

List based on consistency and their impact on games playing as a forward.

On overall talent Neitz and Grant move ahead of Tredrea

I'm amazed at the way some people see this. Barry Hall in the bottom half? Neitz in the top few? Bizarre.

Lloyd - Clearly the best. Great on the lead, able to take pack marks or wrestle in the goalsquare and probably the best shot for goal of the lot.

Grant C - Grant spent years playing as the only worthwhile tall in a crap undersized team and worked miracles playing a lone hand in the forward line.

Hall see below.

Tredrea - Hall and Tredrea were absolutely dominant in their time and deserve to be acknowledged as such.

Richo - I've dropped Richo down the list a fair way for his kicking. No matter how good he's been in every other aspect his job was to kick goals and he's never been reliable in that role.

Neitz - Took him a while to seem comfortable as a FF. While at times he was able to dominate, he was inconsistent and his output was never up to that of his higher rated peers.

O'Loughlin - O'Loughlin would have rated higher for his skill level but he's rarely dominated games to he degree others on the list did.

Lucas - Did a lot of his best work well away from goals. Would have rated higher if he did the same inside the fifty and kicked more goals.

Robbo - A very good competitor and trier who fought well above his weight division for much of his career. Never really a KPF, but put up a hell of a fight pretending to be.

Rocca A - Inconsistent, injury-prone and not overly skillful. Doesn't really belong in this company. His (sometime) ability to take big marks and his long goals redeem him to some extent, but he's not that great.
