The last time we had 2 picks in the top 5 was Sylvia and Mclean.

Gee,i'm so glad we got both of them,6 years later and look where we are!!!

Where would our list be if we only got one of them???

I hope you're young Jack, because that is a very unintelligent analogy. In fact, if you truncate the last word of my last sentence you'll get a better idea of what I think of it.

This poll needs three options.

1 - Melbourne

2 - Sydney

3 - Melbourne 2010 onwards

I didn't enjoy the last quarter. Like I said in another thread, my heart and gut were pumping "win win win" but my mind was saying "no no no."

I fear I may develop a Multiple Personality Disorder over the next 5 weeks.

Edit - I didn't vote in the poll.

"I developed one of those Years ago from watching the DEES get belted year after year, <_< no 2 personalities  , no one :P , listen it's 2 i'm telling you <_< . Are you never listen.":blink:

I felt horrible. We drove all the way to the ACT to watch a match I hoped we would lose. I know the importance of the PP and in particular one, Tom Scully. I don't want mediocrity, I want premiership success. The picks are huge incentives.

You might want to learn how to use a spacebar.

And we have lost 50 games since 2007 so the players should stick to what they are good at for 4 out of the last 5 weeks and be damn grateful of the opportunity to pull on that jumper AND get paid for it.

Jack7, respect to you for standing up for what you believe in. But... i guess all i can really say is: WOW. I can't believe some people are still thinking this way.

Generally speaking, winning is all there is. Everyone knows that. But not winning just any meaningless battle, but winning the WAR. Winning the Premiership, that is.

If you've been down as long as we have, the reward for losing is so much greater than the hollowness of winning just another dead-rubber. Strange as it may seem to some, but a win is counter-productive to the rebuilding process, which we've all suffered through these last 2-3 years. Blame it on the system if you will, but those are the cards we've been dealt, and it's up to the football department now to take advantage of this system while it's available to us.

Of course the players want to win, no-one is denying that. I wouldn't expect anything less of them. But again, strange as it may seem, it's not completely up to the players. I'm sure the FD want the PP. Why wouldn't they? It will help us go a long way towards winning the war, ie. the Premiership, in the future. So forget the little battles and have a look at the big picture.

If you can't see the benefit of winning 4 games this year as opposed to 5 or 6, you really are deluded. (Apologies to dee-luded :P)

I really think it would be handy if every demonlander voted on this, how many members have we got on here? Then we can email the AFL to show what this priority pick is doing to our supporters.

I was barracking for the Dees of course.

It would be impossible for me not to, in the moment watching a match.

But in the aftermath I was happy we lost, of course.

It would be non-sensical to think we would prefer to win two more games this year.

You don't get it, it's not the priority pick thats causing this disatisfaction/frustration/desperation, its the past poor management of the club & list. Thats why were so desparate.

If we were in Sydneys position of a recent Premiership & finals appearences, I dare say we wouldn't be chasing early picks as hard.

Winning a flag is everything, you grubbly little fellow. Of course the players play to win every time they pull on a boot. I don't even want the Coach to compromise himself too much on match day. It's about making strategic decisions prior to the game with the best interests of the club's future in mind, i.e the best chance to win that very elusive flag. As it is, we'll need everything in the universe lining up perfectly for it to happen.

And it's not just about the pp. If we miss a pp, we'll also miss Scully. And Scully is the best chance this club has had to get a star mid in 35 years. Two more meaningless wins will ensure that we get 'more of the same'. But at least you'll be happy, eh genius ?

Argh! Why are you all of a sudden called Hannibal? Change it back!

In answer to the question, I don't think either of the answers really cover how I was feeling at the time. I was hoping they'd play well and still not win, and still felt my typical hatred of the opposing team, so I suppose you'd say Melbourne. I find the thought of actually barracking for the opposition sickening.

It's amazing how different it looks ! But I'm going to try to get used to it.

Without trying to bore you - despite some that don't believe me, I do have a female staffy x bully named Hannabal, in fact her dog collar says "Hannabull" - my wife's spelling  When I signed up to the original Demonland, which I think was aimoo or something back in 2002, Hannibal was already taken, therefore I went with Hannabal.

I've decided that I'll change my BF name from Trav 20 to H... and thought that I may as well make the change to what I originally intended. But it may be taken on BF anyway.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
