Good to see nothing has changed

Bruce was our second best player last weekend. So yes, a good idea to drop him.

Just like Robbo and Whelan, he is not part of the future.

He has no place in the MFC team.

I would like to see

Out

Watts

Mclean (have a rest and get your body right)

Robertson

Morton

In

Bartram

Hughes

Valenti

Strauss

I believe Mclean is not fit and either needs to be managed at Casey for a while or rested. Valenti should be told he is now playing for the MFC for a while and to get out there and show his wares. He either can or can't play afl footy. After 4 of 5 games with good game time he will be the easiest on the list to assess.

Watts, have a rest son. Don't burn him out, he has had a taste. He will be a star when he is physically and mentally ready. I expect that he will start to do really well at Casey.

Robbo used to be dangerous for a couple of reasons. Firstly He would get the oppositions 2nd or third best defender. Secondly he was an extremely difficult match up as he would hurt teams with his leap, his strong hands and pace on the lead and was pretty adept on the deck as well. Unfortunately he has lost a yard and is often out of the contest when the ball hits the deck. I don't think it is through a lack of effort. I just think he has lost a couple of his weapons. He is a much easier player to defend against without them.

Bartram, we need a tagger purely because our midfield lacks the ability to hurt the opposition so may as well nullify one of thiers. His disposal has been OK at Casey. He has pace. Unfortunately he fails to dispose of the ball well under pressure.

Hughes has a few good attributes, he looks to have good hands and pace and is hard at the contest. Also appears to have second efforts and the ability to lay a tackle. Unfortunately his kicking for goal is suspect but he deserves a run. I reckon he will do a few good things. Like Robbo in his heyday is a hard player to match up on.

EDIT: I would also like to see Strauss included sooner rather than later. He has class written all over him. I was aware of his great kicking skills but he also has a nice turn of pace. He also took a courageous mark in the back pocket on Sat which was impressive. He is the sort of kid that will shine at the next level. He is more physically capable (and willing) of doing Morton's role atm IMO.

It's that black and white, eh?

It can seem that way on the surface, but my views are formulated over a period of time as evidence is digested. And evidence tells me that too many Melbourne players are timid, but haven't been paying the price.

I wouldn't be making a call on the ability of any MFC youngsters until they have a few games under their belt and a fully developed footballers body on them.

Before then you are just making premature and ill informed judgements IMO.

It is time...

To Tank

By the way, we're tanking just fine without newton. rest assured if we happen to win a couple he'll get a game.

Jmac might come in for Bennel.

I dont think we will see wholesale changes this week

If Bailey does that he should be sacked immediately. Just because Junior is captain doesn't mean he shouldn't be dropped his form has been disgraceful.

It's about time he made wholesale changes. I can't remember him dropping more than 2 players on form in a week.

well he played in our only win this season... has to be selected for mine... our forward line looked much better with him in it...

Michael Newton LOL

Man that guy is a no hoper at AFL level.

He will just take up space.

Play Watts, Jurrah and Martin up forward.

Say NO to Newton.

You're defending yourself as if I said that your post was 'shallow, knee-jerk and reactionary'.

I said no such thing. I said that making a total judgement that Bailey is at either end of the weak/uncompromising spectrum is very black and white. Especially if he can slip from being totally uncompromising to totally weak in your mind depending entirely upon a single decision that he'll make this week which has many different and intangible factors that must be weighed up when making it.

It's a strong, brave and bold statement to make based on an infinite number of factors - one that only the most uncompromising of posters could make - but certainly not shallow.

I agree Martin could be an exceptional Forward in years to come-certainly worth a good look. Newton has done nothing to deserve a senior spot.

Senior Spots need to be Earned, not given. Otherwise this club will be doomed to fail.

What ?

You're an excitable fella sometimes. Re-read my post. I've no clue what you're talking about.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

A couple of intrepid Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock for the midweek Preseason Training Session to bring you the following observations. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
