you may be surprised with PETTERD'S inclusion this week, but you'll find he won't play in defence, but he will almost definately play in the forward line, in a Defensive Role on Joel McDONALD, who's been in great form running off half back, i just think you'll find he's been brought in to try stop that! And Nathan Jones will be a late inclusion for McLEAN, who from the whispers i've heard will be a late withdrawal with injury..

Just a few points for you guys! Cheers! Go dees!

i actually believe it coz jones is not even named on casey's starting line up.. normally they would be named on the bench but i think we will see jones 2morro night..

Its Watts that won't play

Fact or opinion?

I think you'll find that they take emergency players with them on interstate games, hence Jones not being named for Casey.

Looking forward to match tonight. Will be interesting to see how they perform.

Last time Jones played up there he had his best game and kicked 4 or 5 from memory.

Spoke to casey/melb official at game today

Did this official explain what the hell was the brilliant plan/ reasoning behind naming then dropping him?

Is he injured? :o:blink:

Said he was resting pretty much. Going up for experience. also saying that he was a little sore. But didn't leave out that he could come back in as the flu is rampant at melbourne as hughes and wheatley had it pretty bad today

So he's resting, he's sore, they took him up for the experience (why name him then drop him, when he could have just been the traveling emergency instead?), but he could play because of the flu <_<

That is not at all silly or confusing.

From a PR perspective it wouldn't be the worst move.

There'd be a fair bit of media heat if we were to drop him - much easier to take him up and not play him.

If we were to do that, the news of his omission would then be buried amongst all the other footy chat that arises from the weekend's games.

afl website says jones in for bate

Very Happy that Jack gets another go.

Mathews or Sheahan shouldn't get any credit for their thoughts on Jack

Last night it was Jones in for Watts

Not that I should be happy that anyone is unwell, but I'm very pleased that Bate is out and Jack gets another chance.

Hopefully Bate goes on to infect the rest of the group and we can lose to West Coast next week on grounds of not being able to field a team ;)

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
