Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

can anyone point me in the right direction for a team/squad list of the players; preferably with numbers and positions?

Someone has put them up on big footy, it can be found here here

I thought I might give people an idea on who to watch for tomorrow.

Tas Vs NSW/ACT

What I would consider the worst game of the four,

For Tassie

4 - Jack Boon - A clever forward pocket who is the son of my second favorite cricketer as a kid.

9 - Marcus Davies - High possesion half Back player has an exceptional kick.

14 - Jessie Crichton - Skinny winger who starred in last year's championships and has the most flamboyant hair in footy.

For NSW/ACT

I haven't seen any of NSW/ACT this year and most of the players are already aligned with AFL clubs.

43 - Ted Strudwwick - Our boy, Melbourne's one and only scholarship holder.

QLD(GC17) V NT

QLD

most of the players are GC17 bound

NT

I havent seen much of these kids but here are couple that should be worth watching.

15 - Troy Taylor - A freak forward who has makes the hard look effortless.

18 - Steven May - Tall uttility player who is most likely GC17 bound.

20 - Roland Ah Chee - Inside midfielder who has been racking up the possesions this championships

VIC Country Vs WA

Vic C

3 - Allen Christensen - Small mid/fwd with good speed and skills.

13 - Ryan Bastinac - Midfielder who has a penetrating left foot kick.

20 - Ben Cunnington - Solid midfielder.

23 - Gary Rohan - Hard working winger with explosive red hair, should go to us to join the red head brigade down at melbourne.

26 - John Butcher - Apperently coming to us at number 2.

WA

I have only seen this team once on saturday. but here are the players everyone is talking about.

4 - Brandon Matera - Looking likely for GC17

10 - Kane Lucas - Midifelder with strong hands

24 - Anthony Morabito - Powerful runner with great skills.

28. Jack Darling - Mid sized half forward.

Vic M Vs SA

14 - Jack Fitzpatrick - Rangy CHB

26 - Jake Melksham - Pacy and skillful midfielder

30 - Jake Carlisle - KPP prospect

32 - Tom Scully - is getting his locker ready at the Junction oval.

34 - Josh Toy - GC17 bound.

SA

16 Luke Tapscott

20 Jack Trengrove

33 Matthew Panos

I will be heading down to watch all four and it is good thing they are starting with the Div 2 teams as I would be hard pressed to stay for the 8th hour watching Tassie and NSW/ACT.

As will I. Is it too soon to put a 9 on my demons jumper?

I would imagine the no.9 will go to someone in Oct/Nov. If the number 31 becomes available that could also be something the club might look at.

Its on foxtel right?

Yes the coverage starts from 9:30am on fox sports 1 (Ch 501).

I have been pumping Ah Chee and Stevie May's tyre for a while here now...

Unfortunately we can't get May but Roland Ah Chee is a real chance at pick 17/18 I recon...I'm mates with him so bit biased, missed out on the draft last year.

Others to watch: Patrick Heenan out of defense. Robbie Hale. Shannon Rioli.

edit: heenan just kicked a goal so watch him in the forward line too ;)

Unfortunately we can't get May

He's an average kick, but gees he's a massive boy and can certainly take a mark.

I was a bit excited to begin with, thinking he's probably 19 and could slip through to the second round (because of his kicking), only to find out he's a 17 year old on steroids.

Bloody Gold Coast are bleeding us all dry!

Anyone heard any scores as yet, I'm very interested to know how Vin Ponsonby and Sam Rundle went for Tasmania and obviously how Ted Strudwick went for the Rams?

Strudwick had a good first half with 11 disposals (equal game high i think), and looked quite tidy, but was very quiet in the second

WA comfortably.

Liam Pickering said if a good BIG BLOKE's available pick him. Evidently Butcher has had some injury problems. He mentioned the Hawks 2004 draft and with GC and WS coming in not many chances to pick up a tall.

Plenty of mids in this draft.

Gee Morabito just kicked a good goal. He is 190cm, quick, strong, looks like he coild pack even more kg on. Good he develop into a leading forward or play both mid and forward. He will be class with the ability to rip sides apart.

From WA v Vic Country

Western Australia:

Matera: too young and GC bound, but very smart and a great finisher, looks very good despite small size

Morabito: looks talented and a good size, went for goal on a couple of occasions when he should of done the team thing, exciting prospect though

Darling: big and strong despite being an underage player

Lucas and a couple of their other mids look quite handy also

Vic Country:

Butcher: kicked a couple, all from frees, and wasnt sighted through 2nd and 3rd quarters due to WA dominance, very tall

Rohan: most exciting player on the pitch, blazing blood nut with lightning speed who kicked a couple, took a great grad on the goal line, and showed general tidy disposal

Martin: racked up disposals in first half and was shut down a little in the 2nd

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
