13,342 For North Melbourne vs P.A

Recommended Posts

Tonight North Melbourne budgeted for 31,000 and got 13,000. Expected to lose about 150,000. Thank god it was lower than ours. Does anyone know how much we would of lost against the crows when we budgeted I think 20,000 and got 14,000?

We still have plenty of time to break that record wide open with MCG home games against Port Adelaide, Fremantle and West Coast as well as a home game against Sydney in Canberra.

BTW, what crowd did they get at Carrara today?

Official crowd: 10,294 according to the AFL website match report.

Thats not too bad for 2 visiting teams..

They've got potential, the Gold Coast.

I wonder if it would be an Idea for US to sell one home game for 2011 + 2012 only to the Gold Coast, provided it's played either Friday or Saturday Night on free to air TV, in JULY, mid Winter. We'd probably win on the Field & also in the bank???

A good little get away W/E.

Good point, all those 4 games are from Rounds 14-20 as well, so they could all be disasterous crowds.

I don't think the one in camberra will matter too much though.

North Melbourne had a win. Unbelievable on a saturday night, no excuses for 13000 odd.

Agree, saturday night with the roof closed perfect conditions and we still beat that on a sunday evening at the G in horrible weather. Wonder if the media will get off our backs then for once and instead ask where all the North supporters were.

Melb v. Adelaide at the G on a Sunday at 4:40 was never going to get over 14k. I'm surprised we got even more than that (even though I guessed 25k+).

But 13k for a Saturday night game is TERRIBLE. Has to be the worst crowd for a night game ever. We will get 15-18k for the games against Port/Freo/WC

It is interesting that this chestnut raised it's head just after the NSW said there was no money for WS at the moment. Short answer to the question is no. There is a big agenda out there and the only way to stop it is to start making a continual profit.

Having said that I'm in two minds about the plight of the Kangas. I don't want to see a real (read: VFL) team in trouble but I also think that it a case of better you than me.

In the newspaper it says it got 14,342, But on the AFL website it says 13,342. Yeah and by smallest crowd this year I probably didn`t mean to include games at the gold coast. I meant at Melbourne stadiums. MCG and Etihead. I think Our next 3 games at the G against interstate teams we should promote the game in Casey and also Kick on the G after the game just to try and break even. Just to let you know when these next 3 games will come its Round 14 WCE, Round 15 P.A and Round 20 Freo.

Yeah exactly why we should promote those games more. Against Sydney no problems we will make money from that. Anyone know how much money we make in that one game playing in Canberra against Sydney?

I feel the same way. When our crowds are low, it's: 'where are the Melbourne supporters'. When North has trouble pulling crowds, it's: 'oh, poor North, they need help'. Not that I want to see them die, but they really should get the same treatment from the media that we got after the Adelaide match, and that we will get after the Freo, WCE and Port matches this year.

We get $250,000 for the Canberra game. It's a flat rate regardless of attendance as I understand it.

Basically, the ACT government is paying for the chance to remind everyone that Canberra exists outside the parliamentary triangle.

The morons still haven't figured out that they should probably upgrade Manuka oval - nothing beats sitting in the open in a Canberra winter - you can get sunburnt and frostbitten in the same afternoon. It's a magical experience!

And as for the 13,342 for North... it's already been said here but I need to join this chorus - we get more than that to a Sunday twilight game in utterly miserable weather, compared to a saturday night indoors... and it's not as if we're playing any better than North this year.

It gives we no pleasure to think that the North Melbourne revival is starting to stutter a bit. I'm just immenseley relieved that we already have the money in the bank from Debt Demolition and the AFL/MCC deal, plus the two solid sponsors for multiple years. And 30,000+ members already signed.

Kick at the G is a great idea, but I have heard that it can only be done for the last game of the round at the MCG (and as long as it isn't wet, and the ground conditions are good). So I think that means we can do it for Fremantle, Port Adelaide and West Coast as they are all last games at the MCG for the round. I think the crowd in The Age was a mistake.

Steve, that used to be the case, but over the past few seasons that has been restricted to...never.

We were lucky to talk the MCC into letting us have the run on the turf after last year's Freo match, not sure we'll get it again.

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
