Dear god that is one horrible team. That back six would struggle to beat the Sunshine under 12's League.

And I love that Godfrey got a game, but McLean was named as an emergency. What the hell?

Were we tanking, and was this actually the best available team?

11 of the starting 18 not playing this week, only two of those are still on our list.

Mental.

Mclean was emergency because this was when his foot was still broken/mending. He would make his return the week later, to thunderous applause in a gutting loss. Green and Bruce up forward while none of the followers remain. None of the back 6 playing in this game.

Wow.

But it's killing me, what is it we're supposed to notice?

Maybe the whole back six is not playing this time, and five aren't even at the club?

Anyone who thinks Daniher did a good job needs one look at that team. It makes me gag thinking we were actually thought to have been contenders at the start of 07.

Daniher was a joke! Even putting his coaching to one side (a whole new topic by the way) his list management skills combined with Cameron have left us in the position we are in. Still we move on - but I'II never forget!

Got flogged that day. 77 points.

13 shots to 1 at quarter time. 42 to 15 in the end.

Macca and Green had 25 touches each. Travis 24. Nathan Carrol had 21, sheesh.

Sylvia had just 6 touches but kicked 3 goals.

And somehow, in a 77 point loss, Travis received 1 Brownlow vote.

How could daniher be soo bad? he took us to a grandfinal

Danners was Good, he just stayed 12 months too long as did the previous Board.

I'm still desperately trying to detect what we're supposed to notice.

I suspect it's to do with our midfield, which has barely changed(apart from Godfrey, the hardest in-and-under midfielder during our years of relative success).

This is worrying, since it seems that in 2 seasons we haven't progressed much in the midfield, which is now considered to be one of our glaring weaknesses.

Our backline is 100% different.

Very different this time round with the whole new different backline from last time and also last time with a key forward the great David Neitz, and also on the ball we have godfrey and Johnstone. 12 players who isn`t playing tommorow but who played last time at subi, including 8 players who aren`t even on our list anymore. Oh how times change.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
