He did a full pre season, so that is tripe for a start, and you cant play with a stress fracture for so long, it gets too sore, ask Colin Garland or Mathew Egan.....especially when you carrying 100Kgs on it...

I'd quit while you're behind. You're starting to look stupid and it will only get worse from here. Just inhale - exhale.

All will be revealed soon.

He didn't do a full preseason. Every time I went to training he was walking the boundary.

He did a full pre season but not with the seniors.....

He was told yesterday afternoon.... possibly the reason it hasnt become fully known yet.

Give it time and you will see it aint tripe.

this is the worse news i have heard this year.

I really thought we had found a ruckman that could possibly turn out to be a real find and number 1 ruckman for years!

now back to square one :(

yeah they should put big stef in there to dominate... or even suite jimmy stynes back up.. he proved he can still mark the ball the other week haha

I will back off, this is very sad if it is true, and for the posters sake it better be, there is enough tripe in some of the threads without starting a fake injury one.

PJ, Stef Martin, Spencer can ruck, Spencer is not on the injury list or is there something we should know?

if true, bugger :( seemed to be showing a bit of recent too. Out of contract this seasons end. Will be interesting to see how it all develops

I wish Meesen well in his recovery. Time as always will tell whether he remains with us I suppose

Phew, dodged a bullet there.

Don't want to run foul of Mr Zealous.

Will stop revealing the true facts, and will start making up stupid rumours instead.

He's put the gun in the holster and is slowly backing back. But one eye is trained on your forehead.

Spencer is available this week.

And that's the silver linning.

[censored] news for Meesen if true, as he was finally starting to show something.

On a separate note, are we just unlucky, or is our list injury prone?

I blame Bohdan Babaczuk for all this. He is the source of all these injuries

Oh and this is further evidence that the gameplan does not suit our list.:rolleyes:

Only kidding!!!! However i thought I would get in before the torch wielders and assorted pretzels garner their potted logic and start making spurious allegations.

Well someone had to say it ;)

But seriously, our injuries never stop. Is it crappy luck, is it having a young list that is being overworked, or is it simply having a whole bunch of injury-prone footballers?

It's a massive worry. If we were playing for a final birth, these injuries would have a huge impact on our chances.

Are we really any different from any other club or is it simply that we focus on our club for obvious reasons and as such all things seems of more import and effect ??

Posted

All clubs have injuries and most clubs would play players underdone.

I think the state of our list, and our ladder position, dictates that we do not rush players back in. Guys like Bell, Whelan, Grimes, would be playing by now (if they were deemed necessary) in a finals year.

My money is on Paul Johnson being Haitian.......

Geelong and Hawthorn have bigger injury lists, what are you on about?

I'm not saying we are the only club that suffers from injuries.

I'm simply pointing out that we have an issue with players sustaining injuries that are not necessarily related to impact. Meesen, if indeed injured, is the 4th player this year to sustain "stress fractures", which are injuries related to the body breaking down, as opposed to getting broken, if that makes sense.

We'll never know why this is happening, but it's a worry.

We've had three years where half our list had OP, another stress-related injury, and now 'stress fractures' are all the rage.

Maybe it's just rotten luck, as I've said, but maybe it's not?

Posted

Well I'm still yet to hear anything out of the club so I'm crossing my fingers that it isn't true/

And even if it is surely Meesen's shown enough to stay on our list next year. Jamar's the one in most doubt for next year and beyond.

Posted

Meesen's contract extends into next year doesn't it?

So I don't see how this could be the end of his career, though he'll have to work bloody hard.

Posted

when was it extended ? was under impression ( stand to be corrected..might even sit.. ) it was up at end of this season

Its 2010.

curious ..source ? Thought he came here on a 2 year deal

Give Shane Valenti the job in the ruck.

Yes, I know, he's not very tall but judging by the stats, he wouldn't be too far behind the blokes we've used in the ruck so far this year.

All good.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
