Casey Scorpions 6.8.44 to Port Melbourne 9.8.62 at half time.

Port dominated most of the quarter. Jack Watts had limited opportunities but has looked composed playing mainly at CHF. Matty Whelan was off in the part of the quarter with his right thigh bandaged (corky?). Hughes is the pick of the Dees in the first half but Rhys Healey has also done some nice things. With Trent Zomer not playing in this game, I would suggest that he's playing in the ones later in the evening.

I noticed most of the Demons in tonight's main game had arrived by half time in the reserves game. Jake Spencer is a big lad. Addam Maric is here but there's no sign of Kyle Cheney which suggests that he's the emergency held back just in case there needs to be a change tomorrow.

The other big arrivals are the Channel 10 cameras and Ryan Fitzgerald which suggests it's likely that there will be a cross to Before the Game when that programme goes to air tonight.

Thank you for the updates.

Although I do think that people are getting a bit suspicious that I keep excusing myself to go the bathroom (so I can check my phone).

Either they think I've drunk too much, or I have a drug problem

I hate to say it, but surely Whelan's career is on a knifes edge. If he has gone down with yet another injury then his days at the club must be numbered. He just cannot get on the park anymore.

Good to hear Watts is getting through the game with no worries - I don't expect him to see much of it as the delivery would be shite at the level he is playing.

Wheels has what appears to be a corky. I don't think that's career ending. Watts continues to show his skill without dominating and Healey looks good . His disposal has been excellent. Hughes was quiet that quarter and was also in the hands of the trainers. 3/4 time and Casey 9.13.67 trail Port 10.12.72.

Hughes back on.

Jack Watts took a nice mark close to goal but played on and unselfishly handballed to a teammate in the goal square for a goal but Casey are still behind.

Danny Hughes just took mark of the year. I just hope the Ten cameras were still on to take a shot of it because it could win him a car from somewhere just for the effort!

I demand a few goals from Watts in the last quarter.

I'm not saying this injury is career ending, more that he continues to get these sorts of injuries each time he comes back from the last one. I'd love him in the side but he can't get fit anymore, which is a shame.

Yarggggggg . . . . . . I can't stand it! Call me Charlie Brown but I want some Jack Watts magic. Someone tell me he kicked some goals. Even if he didn't, just say he did. It'd make me feel better.

A nine goal final quarter by Port Melbourne blew away the Casey Scorps. I think the club would have been pleased overall with Jack Watts' debut. He had plenty of game time and looked good. It does however, get bloody cold here at this time of night and it's time for me to say goodbye to Casey Fields and return to the warmth of a nice wood fired oven in the Turkish restaurant the wife's booked us into for the evening.

So he got alot of game time, kicked a goal and had a few touches. Sounds a good enough start to me for his first hitout. Onward and upward Jack.

Is the game over yet? Did Watts kick any?

Contrary to the WJ report, 3SER reported that Watts kicked two.

The station reporting "line quality issues" regarding the Casey broadcast. The OB people blaming battery quality.

Scorps ordinary in the first quarter. Robbo and Maric getting kicks in the second.

I he did kick two, fair play to the lad! Good effort after 6 months out of the game!

Any updates on the ones guys?

The Casey line up for today's game is Peter Faulks, Jack Grimes, Liam Jurrah, Pierce Liddle, Ryan McGough, Ben MaCreadie, Jordie Mckenzie, Tom Mcnamara, Addam Maric, Jarred Matheson, Kyle Matthews ©, Tim Mohr, Matt Moore, Evan Panozza, Russell Robertson, Alex Silvagni (VC), Jake Spencer, Michael Stockdale, Shane Valenti, Beau Vernon, James Wall (VC) and Trent Zomer.

WJ was right about Cheney - he's not here tonight and is the emergency for tomorrow's game. He was also correct in saying that Watts kicked only one goal for the ressies. Casey Radio should tune in to Demonland for all their up to date info.

The first quarter has been all Port. They dominated a low scoring first quarter to lead at the break 2.4.16 to 0.3.3.

In the second quarter, the Scorps have been inaccurate but Robbo just received a pass from Addam Maric for a much needed goal.

Port 4.5 (29)

Scorp 1.7 (19)

Nearing half-time. Casey very competitive in this low scoring game. Winning clearances but skill errors costly.

This Casey outfit seems to be sounding like the senior team the Melbourne football club every time I hear about them.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
