i wouldnt want them to go.. if we could get another 10 years out of them that would be great... but lets face it.. they are getting older and they will be on there way out in a couple of years time...

my list was supposed to be a future lineup.. pretty much showing how cool our young list will be :)

After fremantle's win tonight..the bottom 2 will be clear cut. Richmond and Melbourne. If Richmond finish bottom, they will take Tom Scully and we will take Butcher. If we finish bottom with less than 5 wins, we will take Scully AND Butcher. Either way, we end up with Butcher!...Butcher and Watts in the forward line. nice

Not quite. If the tiges bottom, and we come, say 15th, with less than 5 wins, we get picks 1 & 3.

Freak, it's not less than 5 wins at all.

4 wins + a draw is too much.. = 18pts......

It is NOT MORE THAN 16.5 pts, which actually means - not more than 4 wins. --16pts...

Too early to make any call on where we're going to finish.

Three weeks ago people were saying Freo were going to struggle to win a gme this season. Suddenly, they've won three on the trot and they only had home ground advantage in one of those games.

I like Melbourne's chances tomorrow against the Eagles. So don't take it for granted we're going to win less than five games.

'not more than 16.5points' is practically the same thing as 'less than 5 wins'. THere would only be a difference if by some miracle we got a draw. And yes we could get picks 1 and 3 but its highly unlikely considering we play richmond again.

I'd say we are a 75% chance of picking up butcher

I hope we get them both, BUT, just remember ESSO....

It doesn't matter where we finish because Freo and Richmond will just pick somebody retarded and leave the good one for us.

oooooo nice!

Does anyone know much about this Alex Keath that apparently did well on Watts yesterday. Another player speculated to be a #1 pick!

Butcher booted 6 goals and was BOG in Gippsland's losing effort v Gold Coast yesterday.

A wooden spoon and no more than four wins would deliver two high quality players in a very shallow draft. Are we poor enough as a team to earn the priority pick?

Yep, and it wouldn't be the first time Richmond came last but didn't get the first pick - Carlton got a 'before round 1' priority pick in 2007 even though Richmond was last. Of course, Carlton got Kruezer and Richmond got Cotchin, so it's touch and go who has done better with the pick at this stage.

But it's important to remember that we really can't be banking on that extra priority pick - this first half of the season we play the entire top eight from last year, plus Port at AAMI and West Coast at Subiaco. The second half of the year is going to be dramatically different for us - so far we've won every game we've played in Melbourne that wasn't against a top eight side.

At the end of the days I think we will be around the 4-5 wins mark based on the Geelong performance..

But us Melbourne supporters who haven’t experienced success should be happy and wanting us to win 4 games and get the 2 best players in the draft so that along with our other kids can start to build a p-ship outfit...

We all bagged out Carlton when they did it, but its obvious they tanked... difference is i think we aren’t good enough so we don’t need to tank..

Just keep getting games in the kids and be a little more patient and paid up (attending game included) and we should soon reef some benefits.

I’m generally excited about our future if we can sustain ourselves..

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
