Demonland Player of The Year

Bartram is Simon Godfrey reincarnated. Did a great job nulifying Harvey's influence, but gee his skills are shocking.

Thought PJ's ruckwork was pretty good today. Held his own and looked far more comfortable than Spencer in the guts. But yes, both his (and Spencer's) efforts in the last qtr to go with McIntosh when he pushed forward were pretty disappointing.

PJ had the job of following McIntosh and didnt. Spencer in his first game is more value that a 200cm rover whose disposal was iffy and is wooden below his knees

My best

6.Moloney

5.Cheney

4.Petterd

3..Warnock

2.Frawley

1.Jones

6- Pettard (should have finished with 4 goals, and was good up forward)

5- Moloney (would have been my best player had he not handballed so much)

4- Bartrum (i know his skills weren't great, but his job today was to negate Harvey. And he kept him to 16 touches and no effectiveness)

3- CHeney (played the sweeping role effectively. Only a slight questio on his decision making)

2- McDonald (the general in the guts)

1-Frawley - (plenty of the ball from the backline- gonna get better)

6. Moloney - starting to look like the form he had at the cats 29 touches & 5 tackles

5. Green -gutsy. always put the body on the line. was placed in the forward line in the last qtr, but it didnt come that way too often. 18 touches

4. Cheney - for a first gameer, he had poise, an a good footy brain. he will be a star of the future if he keeps this up. his first opponent was Wells. 22 touches 7 marks 91% effective 3 -1%ers and the only contested mark for the team!

3. Jones - instead of just making packs, he actually got the ball out and made clearances. 23 touches 78% effective

2. Bruce - 22 touches 77% effective. same old Cam.

1. McDonald 23 touches only 65 % effective. had a chance to kick his first "Captains goal" from 30m on and missed.

Honourable mensions the whole back line. there only kids and it was Rivers first game in about 8 months (and Mclean). they will soon be a force to recon with. Now if we onlt had a forwad line that looked the same!

Hardly a basis to get a vote at all. He struggled today and made a number of crucial errors. His stats bear that out.

I do agree some what but i realy would have stoped at 5 votes. We had some other good contributers at times and then faded. We scored 1point fron the 22 min mark of the 3rd to the 20 min mark of the last, another quarter fade out like the practice matches. It was mostly skill errors that let us down. Whilst dissapointed in loosing, Nth was a top 4 side for most of last year. we will get better. Just wait till we see Watts as a target in the games and years to come. I was still all in all happy what i saw. Just a thought when was the last round 1 game that didnt have the names of Neitz, White, Yze or Robbo in the line up?

The leader board after Round 1:

11.941 Brent Moloney

8.624 Kyle Cheney

6.634 Ricky Petterd

5.970 Nathan Jones

1.990 James Frawley Neville Jetta

1.327 Clint Bartram Brad Green Matthew Warnock

0.663 Paul Johnson

I understand that taking 3 random sets of votes is fair, but it's a pity that one of those 3 sets of votes happened to be the only one that had Johnson, who really doesn't deserve anything for his work yesterday.

1. Petterd - Love him forward, presented well, spewing he didn't kick more.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
