Will we have the $$$$$?

If we don't have the $$$$ then we have the worst footbal managers in the league.

We have no player in the best 50 players in the afl. We just retired White, Yze and Neitz (previously our top 3 most highly paid players).

Okeefe would come in to our team and be our best player by far

junior?

Yeah, Junior would be on the Veterans List.

Is, or should O'Keefe's age be a concern for Melbourne's blueprint? If there is a youth blueprint (ie 23 or under)........

Fair enough...for the record, that was the mail he said he received from "around the traps". He believes Melbourne are seriously contemplating O'Keefe.

-edit: O'Keefe is allegedly believed to want to go to a club in contention for a Premiership. Hawthorn was that club, but they may have severed ties during trade week. Carlton and Essendon are considered the possibilities, but are they in contention for a Premiership? Well, Carlton is considered closer than Essendon is.....? But with Hawthorn & Geelong in such a position, these two teams (Carl & Ess) are "at least" a year or two away from playing in a Grand Final for a Premiership.

Why on Earth would he want to come to Melbourne ? I can't see it.

Possibly because it offers him his best chance of coming back to Victoria on the amount of money (spread over 3-4 years) that he wants to be paid in what is likely to be his last major contract. It may be that locality is far more important than choice of club.

Lots of speculation there.....

What I don't understand is how he has any choice. If he nominates for the PSD, doesn't that mean we are entitled to take him with our pick? Or does he sign a contract prior, or makes an agreement or something?

To my little knowledge on this issue, I belive that if a player has no desire to go to the club who has picked him up, then he may contest the selection. Very well could be wrong. But I think its right.

Would be nice to get him.

Get back Davey, Rivers, McLean and Molooney, add the number 1 pick and Ryan O'Keefe.

Suddenly things look pretty good.

I havent written off season 2009 like most. I think we can make the Finals.

Generally, from my experiance. If I or Demons fans in general really want a particular player to come to the club....then it most certainly wont happen.

Ok then. So I guess the ball's in O'Keefe's court then.

Can't see us affording him if we're only paying 92.5% of the salary cap and paying Carroll out 250K also. Can't see it happening. Let's go for either Lonergan or Lee.

Pretty much. Wich begs the question. "Why on earth would a player want to play out his days at the MFC at the moment"? Pretty confident that we have room in the cap, thanks to White, Yze, Neitz.

He would certainly steer the Dees in the right direection, and get the boys playing with some more confidence, and even win a few more games, but IF hes after a premiership.....then this isnt the club for him

Lonergan=No Good!!!

Hes 'good' in an amazing side...he would be 'average' in a poor side

I'd rather not recruit any mature age players @ the expense of churning lots of kids.

Give me the maximum rookies allowed, including rucks, that we can afford rather than filling the salary cap via expensive, experienced players who won't be around in 4 years & onwards.

I agree, The players voted to start training early. Now Stynesy as prez with the Debt campaigns, new proven CEO coming home, i reckon the players would have felt pretty ordinary about the 2008 season. I think we shall see a vastly different team

2009 Finals, bring 'em on....This years finals were such a yawn!!

I am very serious.

We were decimated by injury this year.

We get back 4 or 5 key players, and Garland and Morton will be stars as soon as next year.

Add number 1 pick.

Sylvia about tp explode.

Possibly add O'Keefe.

Why cant we make the Finals?

We will have a better team than Carlton and Richmond, and I bet they are both aiming for Finals.
