Brent Prismall Chooses Essendon - or does he?

Yep 35 or PSD is the most I'd give, Seems Lovett would need to take a 100k cut from his Essendon contract to play for geelong or get 300k to play for Sydney.

So even if Geelong is his prefered destination (reported by Herald sun in todays paper) 150k difference is massive, especially when that is actually double what the cats can offer, and I'd be tipping they could not back load his contract either.

According to HUN?, Lovett is getting $250K at bombers, best cats can offer is $150K. Straight swap is thus out, and cats are looking for a pick as a trade.

By the way, this means that the cats have offered Prismall $150K! Clearly, other clubs can reasonably offer him considerably more.

That puts us back in the hunt IF HE WANTS TO COME TO MFC.

MFC or Sydney?

All reports had been linking him to Essendon leading me to think we had missed out on yet another recruit but it was encouraging seeing an article today with his manager saying he'd be happy to go to either Essendon or Melbourne and it's up to who can get a deal done with Geelong........Fingers Crossed

And THAT is why you don't jump to conclusions and abuse a player who had far from made up his mind. Essendon were probably just offering a little more, and had has more chance of success at this stage then we do. But now we are right in the hunt and he doesn't mind which club he ends up at, so c'mon Melbourne MAKE IT HAPPEN!

The Herald-Sun is saying : The wooden spooner has been eyeing Prismall for several weeks. It is understood the Demons made an official presentation to Prismall last week, before the trade period started.

Yet todays Age newspaper has : Geelong midfielder Brent Prismall yesterday toured Windy Hill and remains committed to joining Essendon.

Looks like Melbourne have got to give these presentations the flick. First Warnock, and now Prismall.

The presentations aren't working. Warnock said he'd rather play along side Chris Judd than his brother for gods sake.

They probably get car sick from all the driving around showing them our training facilities. B)

Essendon are heading for a crash when they lose their old guard, their recruiting has been about as shabby as ours in recent times. The only difference between Luke Molan and Courtney Johns, Bradley in output terms is that they got on the park for a couple of lukewarm games.

Prismall wouldn't have a strong preference for either club I don't think, both our lists are raw.

Encouraging, at least we know we can always better Essendon in picks.

Hopefully we can get the deal done.

Most importantly though, im just happy to see a player say he is happy with either instead of thinking they are Judd and picking one side.

I am just excited that a player has not snubbed us, even if the main reason is our side is a shambles and he is assured of game time.

Big plus is all our picks are slightly higher than Essendons. But we must not part with any top 20 picks

It depends which way you look at it.

If Melbourne are keeping their top 20 picks, that would leave picks 35 and 51 to use in the Prismall swap.

I'm pretty sure Essendon will keep pick 5, but then could use 23 or 39.

So going by your theory of Melbourne keeping top 20 picks, Essendon actually has the better pick to use, that being 23 compared to Melbournes 35. But then again, Melbourne might be willing to use pick 17 or 19 on a bloke who has played 25 games in 4 years and is coming of an ACL [Just kidding, Prismall is a good player].

Then again depending on what Essendon get for Lovett, and what happens with Brad Green, the bargining chips could change again.

If Essendon are prepared to give up pick 23 in a strong draft, for an unproven player coming off a knee reco, you can have him. I'd be p#ssed off if we gave up a top 20 pick for him.

As for Lovett, he's damaged goods and there aren't teams bargaining for him, so I doubt that you'll get a 2nd round pick for him.

I'm a bit concerned about what we give for Prismall to be honest, did you see how easily his knee crushed when he went to wrong foot a defender..... not to metion all his wrist injuries and hamstring problems....

We've got enough injury midfielders thanks.

Pick 35 for Prismall should do it I reckon.

I love the logic around here that once a player injures themselves they are forever injured and can never come back.

Pessimism amongst supporters doesn't make for a great club.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
