Just announced on SEN, Dean Laidley has said if the right deal can be struck, Hamish McIntosh could be traded.

Also, Brent Prismall has requested to be traded from Geelong.

edit: Hamish McIntosh's manager has said that Hamish is staying put. Go figure...

but I have this awful feeling the demons will overdo it at the trade table and come out second best in a deal or two.

Is that because Chris from Freo is now a Demon again. I think he's reformed (Chris Tarrant will do that to people)

Another star graduate from the Class of 2003!.

If Carlton are seeking to build for a challenge for a flag in the next couple of years, why would they be trading a 23yo with 5 years experience who was their PP (No 2 pick) in 2003? Because he is.....

Aside from Cooney, the 2003 draft is the most underwhelming basket of talent in years. I hope this year's crop is better than that and MFC draft some stars...or at least one!

Thank you Rhino.

Walker is S H one T. Had a dynamite debut and hasn't done anything since.

This is one of those ones where I just can't seem to see why everyone gets so excited.

Picks 1, 17 and 19 are off the table unless we get an upgrade for them... And Carlton would want one of those picks in a straight swap.

Only a big, multi-club deal would make it work. For mine....

I'm all for us being aggressive, but I have this awful feeling the demons will overdo it at the trade table and come out second best in a deal or two.

Couldn't agree more

It's widely agreed that Melbourne will (hopefully) trade to get an extra first rounmd pick. Why would you then trade one away?

I would be extremely uncomfortable trading any picks under 20.

I reckon there will still be very good players available at 17 and 19.

If the Tarrant trade hasn't scared clubs off deals for first round picks then I don't know what will...

We don't have players that get great press, and other clubs do... How they convinced Freo he was worth that much is something that still boggles my mind, especially given Freo's WOEFUL track record in trading, you'd think they'd be careful with it!

If you're EVER going to take someone's trash and make it your treasure, you don't do it with first round picks... unless you're desperate to have a tilt at a flag, and you're sure that the player is leaving, not getting traded against his will (a la Judd).

Lets try and hold out on Prismall and nab him in the PSD.

I concur. As other posters have mooted, it'd probably cost us 17 or 19, and I'm with Dappa and More Juice in wanting to hold onto those, unless the opportunity to upgrade them comes along.

Ultimately we're talking about a tough, reasonably-talented midfielder, but one who likely won't get on the park next year, and that needs to be considered.

get him dees

no- we can trade 51 for prsimall..with the threat of nabbing him in PSD...cos roos want him as well it was reported. and there are no doubt other clubs interested. thing we have going for us, he could be top midfielder, just under brock

No. Not good business. What goes around ...............

Give up a 25-35 type pick. Depending on what we can trade for.

F*cking spot on bevan (chopper read anyone?)

those two COULD easily get a first round draft pick by themselves. they probably won't. but green and bell could get 4. if tarrant was traded for 8 and medhurst...then surely bell and green , and maybe 35 would surely get 4 IF PORT WANTED IT.

won't happen, greens 28yo and bell is no good

Posted
exactly

but some people on here have said green isn't worth a top 20 draft pick by himself!!!

so i'd take a top 20 pick if we had to get rid of 35. we'd then have 1,16,17,19- preferably a lower pick than 16 would help us. and trading guys like bell for top 40 pick

Green's value would be an early 2nd rnder.

I agree with you value assessment but I don't think for a second we could ever get that......

Because unfortunately BB there is a big difference between what we may think he is worth and what we can actually get.

What we might get if it gets that far is an early second round pick or some kind of jumbled multi-player trade.

In which case the jury will be out on whether the MFC actually improved its position at all, and that should be the only point for trading.

Why does anyone think that Prismal will go into the PSD? I think unless someone can broker a decent trade with Geelong he'll just sign their 2 year

Pick 20 is an early second-round pick.

Spoke to Peter today about todays proceedings about 4. He had been in contact with someone from the club about 3.

He was not as fourthcoming about information but said the only player we're pursuing is Adam Thomson. Who's available for a 3rd rounder, a bargain really. Seaby was originally a target but WCE want an early Second Rounder for him. Not happening.

Green is on the market but dont rule out him signing a new contract. CJ is still of some interest to St.Kilda and Melbourne have announced their intention to keep Jamar.

Boring really.

Geez Rogue can you stop running around and "correcting me" ;):P !!!

I know 20 is an early second round pick, but I think that pound for pound he is worth a first.

That being said I don't think we will get either, which is all that counts really.

great so now we keeping jamar! thats just [censored] great!

great job MFC!

Unless we have another ruck option, I cant see why we would be trading him. Clearly its not certain there was a definitive offer made by another Club. Get some facts.

I thought Jamar's efforts were reasonable when he was the main ruckman in White's absence. He is certainly no star though.

If we are not trading for another ruckman he should be kept as we would only have fill ins like PJ and Martin, with Meeson and Spencer to come. Not a great group of ruckmen. Spencer may make it in time, but Meeson probably won't.

We will obviously look at another ruckman in the expanded Rookie draft.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
