Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Bomber fans willing to give up pick 5 for Colin Garland

They are talking about it on a Bombers message board.

I nearly fell off my chair.

A few Bombers fans rate him very highly obviously.

Would anyone here do it? It would be hard to say no , as much as I love Garland.

I guess the question is would you rather Colin Garland or Michael Hurley?

Garland has proven he can cut it at AFL level. Its a stupid idea.

Yes. I would! Even though I like the kid.

That would give us Vickery and Watts I would think. I only say Watts because everybody wants him.

And I would prefer to keep Garland than Hurley. But I would'nt think we would take Hurley if we had Pick 5.

Garland kept franklin quiet (once) and made massive progress last year. He is a tall who is quick and can play tall or small. He is gutsy, flexible and young. Pick 5 is a twinkle in the football gods eyes at this point. A player that has developed as well and shows as much is much more important to keep, I'd reckon.

Some people..

U wanna give up our best key back prospect in 50 years and risk it on a pick? a lottery?

Seriously, you people amaze me!

Colin Garland is a star, and could be a true great, bomber fans have it right, why trade a player we KNOW can handle the level, to get a kid who might not, hes 20 for gods sake! unreal!

Possibily the stupedest thing i have EVER seen a demon supporter want, pick 5?? wow, damn fools..

No, no, no. We've got him, his ours. We don't know how good he can be.

He might be anything.

Look for trades with the players that we,ve seen their promise, & can trade comfortably knowing their not the next Hird or Voss.

Then again! I would prefer to keep Garland and take Vickery with Pick 1. No thanks Mr. Watts! I think he is the most risky of all three. Just ask his cuz Fergus!

I think Nudge put it best...

The backline is a cause for real optimism, and that's largely because of Garland. This time last year it looked the complete opposite.

With Rivers, Frawley, Warnock and Garland, we have the foundations of something special. Why would we risk that?

hang on a sec:

everyone thaught he was crap after those games

he looked like a headless chook

and when the ball was kicked too him twice in two minutes

he didnt attack it and both times, oppositon players swooped in front of him to take the mark

after the freo game when he restricted farmer (unless im corrected, his fifth game) a lot of people started to get more and more optomistic even though he made a couple of critical errors in that match

everyone had reason to think he was a worry after his first couple of games

dont go acting as if you thought he was gods gift to earth back then

he was crap in his first couple of matches hodgie...

and unless mo64 u can show me evidence from demonland that you thaught otherwise, i think you are just using the gift of hindsight yourself

Oh, how the wheel has turned! Garland has gone from the most maligned player on this forum after playing 4 games, to the best thing since Robbie was a boy.

Just goes to show that most on here know jackshit about talent identification.

Oh yeah, is that right? I've been on the Garland bandwagon since the start of his Sandy career, not to mention, Wannaemirri, & (Valenti, Steph Martin, Matthew Warnock) before they were picked up.

yencks mate- you know as well as i, the games i saw of him at Sandy, he was terrific. AFL is a hard to adjust to, and he wasn't 'shocking' as some have labelled him on this site, such as yourself in his first few games- Isaac Weetra is the definition of shocking and i don't know how he ever got a game- he played the season in sandy reserves- thats the difference between garland and weetra

mate

he was SHOCKING!

im not trying to argue with you cos i agree with you on most things but he played horribly in his first two games

i had not seen him play at sandy and i didnt know until now that you had but i saw those first two games with my own two eyes and these threads are evidence that MOST people thought badly about his first two games

http://forums.demonland.com/index.php?show...&hl=garland

and mo64, in this thread...i dont see you really sticking up for garland after his first couple of games

yencks you were at my house watching a game early on his career- 2nd or maybe debut, when ricky p had a ripper- garland wasn't that bad- we got smashed by 10 goals! hard to play well when you lose by that much, we got killed that night, ricky was about our best!

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
