Robert Warnock

So if his former coach in Connolly is prepared to deal then I assume you think that he's either stupid, doesn't have the Club's best interests at heart, or is a horribly poor judge of talent.

I don't for a second doubt that we should have courted him or shown interest, not at all. However, initially I don't think the club thought it would cost us so much to get his services.

Now that the scum of the earth from Carlton have got involved, it appears that Warnock's price has over-inflated, and I'd be happy to see us walk away and not fall into Carlton and Freo's game.

We've been sucked into players' demands too many times in the past. I'd hate to see it happen again.

By the way, Freo were/are the masters of bad trades and player pick-ups...

Yes..but more often than not at the blunt end of their careers..not the "promising potential" moment !!

By the way, Freo were/are the masters of bad trades and player pick-ups...

So surely this is something to have been pounced upon....if they are so poorly at such things??

still..another day..and another... umm..another...umm.. not a lot really !! :rolleyes::lol:

I guess we'll see what sort of deal Carlton and Fremantle finally work out. The Dockers have been screwed by most clubs in past trade deals ... let's see if they've learned anything.

If they settle for just pick # 24, the whole football world will be laughing.

Carlton wont be !! :rolleyes:

Once Warnock nominates his intentions...Freo can only hope to get the best they can. This despite the rhetoric of Bond etc was never going to be much more than Carlton will give.

Freo were never going to get a low pick of off us... a very outside chance that #19 in my estimation may have been mooted had the chance occured....not much different to what they wil get

Given Freo may have got nothing...it could have been worse

Am I correct in saying no deal has been done yet?

hasn't been done but who cares, they can have him, their absolute fools to pay him $400k a year :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Nothing is done yet. Dont know where Greg Denham gets off, but he definately hasnt nominated Carlton.

Clinton Young his manager is heading over to Melbourne next week to entertain formal offers from us and Richmond.

See story below - they want a first round pick. We are in the hot seat, as personally I cant see Carlton trading pick 6 or Richmond trading pick 8.

Trade could go something like this:

1. Warnock (Freo) --> Carltank

2. pick 6 (Carltank) --> Filth

3. Didack (Filth) --> Adelaide

4. Griffen (Adelaide) --> Freo

:rolleyes:

Or it could go some thing like this:

Warnock to Carlton

Griffen ( Adelaide ) home to Freo.

Fisher ( Carlton ) to Adelaide.

Pick 24 ( Carlton ) to Freo.

Or Warnock could go elsewhere.

that article in the sun today though hinted at freo wanting the best deal out of it because Warnock was in their future plans, and the same goes with Mundy- two young up and comers. the article suggested that they would be meeting with us and richmond, so if we put forward a good deal- robbie might not have a say!

yeah exactly...

i dont want him that much and am not keen on the club to pay him $400K a year...

however, we still hold all the cards

i'd be happy with

Pick 1 to Freo

Pick 3/Warnock to Melbourne

i dont however, want to lose a top 20 pick and would be utterly [censored] off if we lost pick 17 or 19 (or another gained top 20 pick) to those wanchores

yep

wouldnt trade pick 17 or 19 for anything, so in trading pick 1 for 3 and warnock we havent lost anything- and maybe chuck jamar in as well cos we can lose him the dud

we need to trade as well to get another top 20 pick

Carlton are by no means over the line. Warnock isn't Judd. Just because he prefers the cheating scum doesn't mean he'll end up there. Freo will want the most they can get and pick 17 or 19 are both better than 24 or 26. We need to stay in the hunt, if only to ensure Carlton pay through the nose for him. Pick 24 and a decent player at least to match our 19.

Carlton have hoarded top draft picks for years and I'd expect them to be one of our contenders during our next tilt at the pointy end of the ladder in 4-5 years, we can't start laying down to them already.

Nostradenham: for the last two seasons Denham confidently predicted Melbourne would make the Eight.

Not that that has anything to do with inside info.

Or does it?

Hmmm.

aaahh got to love trade week...and it hasnt even started !!! lol

Yes..Carlton arent over the line yet

Yes ..Freo wants to play hard ball

Yes..an outside chance Warnock may yet end up a Dee

however.

The real choice for Freo..is to take pick 24 off of Carlton..and maybe some other peripheral chicanery or risk Melb picking him up for free.

Without doubt the Melb negotiators will ( if sensisble ) wait for the initial stalemate to occur...then slip in a temptor !!

It still aint over til its over type thing, but I wouldnt get any hopes up !!..Its just two teams playing with their antlers !!

Unless Freo and the Dees collude.

Given the histories of the three clubs, Melb, Carlton and Freo..and their abilites and successes at hardball and shiftylike negotiating; who are you going to put money on winning this one ??

Im not putting mine on us !! ;):rolleyes:

$1.6mil over 4 years = insane

His perceived worth seems completely disproportionate to his achievements thus far. Potential is not worth $1.6 million.

Quite right. Insane Indeed. $1m over 3 years I think should be the right market price.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

    Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

    The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

    In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

    CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

    The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
