Something that came out of the Ballarat Demons event last week was the future of Bohdan Babijczuk. He is universally lauded on here, but is well respected at the club. However, next year ...

He will not be physical preparations manager!

He will however still be on board, as speed coach! It was him who PJ was working with for a few weeks before that amazing run down, so if he can get that speed out of a ruckman, let's see what he can do with our midfield!

Wasn't BB credited with turning Nathan Foley from a plodder to a jet.

If we could instill some pace into Brock, Nath, Brent or Shane, we'll be cooking.

Or did Foley always had that speed but terrible running technique?

Yes, the will came from within. But PJ had spoken to BB a few weeks before and said he wanted to work on his pace. BB and PJ worked on his running style, which as the run down can contest, has certainly improved.

Just as an aside - Lauded means praised, you might be thinking of loathed.

Hopefully he can give Jones some toe. And Moloney. And Valenti. And McLean. And...well, I think you get the drift.

Our midfield is slow. That's what i'm trying to say.

PJ was a great athlete all through High School (went to my school) so I'd attribute that to his hard work as a youngster

Were you in his year level?

IIRC Robert Harvey and Jeff White went to the same school as PJ, but I'm not sure the school footy helped PJ.

The writting was already on the wall for this, i'm pretty sure that earlier in the season there was an article about about the club doing a full review into the fitness department at the years end. After our bad run of injuries there had to be some changes

Interesting! Does Bohdan know about this role change? How reliable are your sources of information? Nothing on MFC website to this time.

Well my source was Chris Connolly..... is that official enough? There was 100 other witnesses to this as well.....

And yeah, loathed, not lauded..... Me Englandish not working very gooderer this weekly.

Instead of cutting the salary cap, the AFL should make Melbourne not waste their money on stuff like this.

"Move your legs faster boy!"

not how it works at all. running technique is a massive factor in speed. i assume he will also work with any physical preparation manager to provide specific exercises and routines to increase speed.

'speed coach' also sounds like a part time position as opposed to the full time physical preparation manager.

FWIW i think speed coach is a better description of what BB is. I thought he came from a sprint coaching background, and perhaps should be in this role, rather than the overseer of all physical preps.

The tongue was slightly in the cheek and I'm sure that there is more to it, it's just that sometimes the "too many cooks" thought comes to mind.

BB was actually the bloke who gave Campbell Brown some toe, he was as slow as Benny Holland as a schoolkid, and now he can match it most at the highest level.

He was also given the arse from Hawthorn because of their horrible run of soft tissue injuries.

Which leads me to think that this is a good idea, he's a good sprint coach but should not be in charge of all physical preparation

That was when Brown was younger wasn't it?

I remember reading an article and he saw potential because Brown had a powerful lower body to propel him, just couldn't use it
