Carrying Bate and maybe even Jones is the problem with your team. Exchange with J.Brown and Cousins. See the difference?

I would actually be upset if we went for cousins. totally against wat we are working towards atm.

J.Brown isn't coming to Melbourne, and if he was, we'd have to sacrifise pick 1 plus lots more. that's why its a silly suggestion.

yes, but you haven't shown how you would get those 2 players to our club.

It's just like me saying.... add Kerr and Didak to our team and look how awesome it is. you can only add quality players through trade weak if you are willing to give up quality in return.

What are you giving up for J.Brown that could realistically get him over the line to our club.

I would have thought that with Coyote on one wing R. Runner might be useful on the other......

Adds some genuine pace ;) !!!

Mal Walden will have stints up in the midfield to utilise his pace, offering support to Weetra and Coyote.

If anyone can put a better side on the park to have a crack in the next 1-3 years please enlighten us all.

Ur an idiot. It's not about producing the best team for next year, its about compiling a list of players that will have a tilt at the flag in the years down the track. Your team may beat the likely team, but the likely team will be much more likely to win a next flag. Adding Jono Brown and Cousins to our raw kids does not get us close to a premiership.

Forward line will need to lift on this year!!

Now now princess, no need to be going around calling people idiots.

Like I said put it up against Geelongs side now on GF day and I think we have a mighty good show.

I'm curious as to the conversation A. Hitler and J. H. Christ will have sitting next to each other on the bench.

As for the OP... his team might be wonderful but it aint going to happen. Ever. I don't want to have a crack in 1-3 years, I want to have a crack in 3 years and have that gun team for at least 5 years after that.

Like I said previously

Using pick 17 and 21 with a Bate and Jones or both something along them lines. Even Miller comes to mind for the mix.

The Lion won't even let Bradshaw go with those picks and name you mentioned above.

How does pick 14 get a gig ahead of pick 1?

Lol. Two changes to the team, a 32 year old has been who may have 6 good games in him, a 26 year old injured forward who has already written off playing for the MFC. One draft pick, an untried 18 year old forward who will need a few years to find his feet in the AFL and one other pick up from another club, who you don't even give a starting position.

Y_M's team is looking better, and most of those are on the wrong side of being alive

The truth is, the Dees with big Jonathan brown would still be Shyte!

We need to rebuild organically, start from the start with no shortcuts. THis is the only way we will win a flag. Build on young talent, and hope they can ring us some glory in a few years time. If we abandon the 5 year plan now, it could be another 5-8 season before we do anything significant. I would rather more misery next season, knowing that the season to follow will be a significant improvement on the season before.

I think it's foolish to think that both Green and Bruce will be at Melbourne next year, given the current climate...

B: Garland, M Warnock, Chris Johnson

CHB: Rivers, Martin, Davey

C: Morton, McLean, Wheatley

CHF: Petterd, Paul Johnson, Maric

FF: Woenamerri, T Boyle, Bruce

R: R Warnock, B Prismall, L Dunn

IC: M Bate, M Jamar, J McDonald, B Moloney

Emergencies: J Watts (Only 17) C Bartram, N Jones, S Buckley, J Frawley, M Newton, M Whelan, J Grimes, C Sylvia, R Robertson

Pick 8, Pick 17, Pick 19, our other kids from next year

Retired: White, Yze, Holland, Neitz

Delisted: Bode, Weetra,

Trades: Pick 8 in ND in exchange for Brad Green and John Meeson to Carlton (Meeson looks a star next to Ackland)

Trades: B Prismall from Geelong in return for our last pick in the ND (Ref Deals done on King and Gardiner last year)

Trades: R Warnock from Fremantle in exchange for Nathan Carroll and Daniel Bell (Fremantle are fun to trade with)

PSD: T Boyle from Hawthorn (Not sure if this is plausible, but why let the truth get in the way of a good story)

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
