Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Concerns about Morton

Yes I know he's young ; yes I know he's inexperienced ; yes I know there's lots of upside to the guy .

BUT-

If you watched the Hawks succumb to the pressure exerted by the Saints last night ,you may have noticed Cale's brother continually fumble , stutter , and turn over the ball when the heat was applied.

My concern now is that it may be a genetic thing because Cale regularly turned it over and missed his targets too when the pressure ultimately came after quarter time .

Jarrod had an absolute shocker last night didnt he? He did remind me of Cale at the time with some of his clangers. I think cale is most similar to Jarrod, whereas Mitch is a bigger, stronger 'ox'. There's no doubting their skillsets, its the application, particularly for the younger two, that leaves a lot to be desired. Nevertheless, he has time well and truly on his side, I have faith that he will turn into a very good footballer in a couple of years...

Turning the ball over is genetic?

Now I've heard it all.

Give the kid a chance, don't make a judgement until at least the end of next season

My point is that fumbling the football under pressure is genetic .

People respond differently to pressure , and perhaps the Mortons don't have a genetic propensity to coping well with it .

Um, no it is not Genetic. If football playing ability was genetic what happened to the dud gaspar, the dud ottens etc?

I'm not talking about ability - Cale possesses it ; I'm talking about coping with pressure .

Both of them are playing their first year of AFL football, and for Cale at least, he is used to being an outside receiver who has time and space to use the ball well (a role which he played to perfection for WA in the U18 championships last year). I dare say it's a bit of a shock that he now has blokes hunting him ruthlessly, and it doesn't help when he has berks like Bruce firing hospital passes to him. He's not blameless of course but it takes time. If he is still having the same troubles at the start of 2010 I'll be getting concerned.

Lol is this guy serious.

And another thing do we need a new Cale Morton thread everytime he plays.

God he got 20 posessions and 2 goals today. Did anyone see that sidestep he did in the first quarter. AWESOME!

So of the 20 million people in Australia, the brothers might be the 55th and 555th best yet it has nothing to do with genetics?

Obviously it's as much to do with the individual, but brothers do generally share a lot of similar traits

*edit* Should probably point out I'm not saying Morton chokes under pressure.

Till the end of 2010, he'll take time to bulk up and find his feet, but yes he'll be good, very good I expect

Yes but did anyone see him do anything positive after quarter time when the pressure was on ?

Morton is the 3rd youngest player on our entire list, and out of our 5 youngest players he is the only one to have made his debut. He is 191 cm (according to the club website, is apparently around 194 now) and 78 kilos FFS (thats a BMI of 21, when most AFL footballers should be 25<). This kid is a gem, oozes class and has shown that he will be a force in the future. All he needs to do is bulk up a little bit. 2 goals and 20 posessions in a team that got absolutely raped.

Amen Jarka........

Cale was not great today, and has been a little chequered so far, but he had plenty of company at Subi this afternoon, unfortunately.

But there is still plenty to like about his class and the fact that being young there is still plenty to learn and develop.

But this may just be one of those cases that seems to occur too many times when we tend to expect way to much from our kids.

Like if they don't walk into the side and dominate like they have been there for a decade then apparently they will never make it.

My opinion is to never write anyone off this early (or becasue his brother can miss targets) !!!

His first quarter really was awesome and exciting, and I was thinking maybe he feels comfortable and right at home here in WA and he's going to have a blinder of a game and send Yze_Magic into a state of complete ecstacy. And then...

Let him get into it and find his way. I think he's been talked up too much too early and this may be why you're forgetting that HE IS ONLY 18! And super skinny too!

Same with Wonaemirri - let him get into it. That was probably Aussie's first game at Subi (??) and from my understanding, it's not the easiest ground to play on.

Let them get into it. It's their first season for goodness sake! They're taking in so much every game, playing against different teams, in different grounds and environments/climates, and using unique game plans.

Massssssive load of information to be consuming and applying.

I'm beginning to think there is a contest to see which poster can make the dumbest post about Cale Morton.

BANG!

I heard from my sister's boyfriend's uncle's neighbour who is an Iraqi refugee who lives in Darwin that Cale Morton actually has hands for feet, and so every kick he does is actually a handball, and he should be commended for getting it so far.

BANG!

By the way, is stupidity genetic?

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
